1 Claim.
The present invention relates to display racks and has particular reference to a rack of this character designed to display gloves in a convenient arrangement by means of which the gloves may be easily inspected and selected.
More specifically, the invention, comprises a rack including a plurality of vertically spaced shelves and in which the shelves are separated into compartments by means of vertically extending rods in order that the gloves may be separated according to sizes and styles, the rods forming the partitions between the compartments serving to enable inspection of the gloves without necessitating removal from'the racln.
A still further object is to provide a display rack of this character of simple and practical construction, which is, strong and durable, which may be easily moved into a desired position, which is neat and attractive in appearance and otherwise well adapted to the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which Figure 1 is a front elevational View.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional View.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional View taken substantially on a line 33 of Figure 2, and
Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view of one side of the rack showing the arrangement of the rods projecting through the shelves to form the partitions therein.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates a pair of side members of the rack supported upon swivel rollers 6, the side members at their lower front edges being connected by a horizontal spacing member 7. Each of the side members at the lower rear edge thereof, is formed with an extension 8 of predetermined configuration, as clearly shown in Figure 2 of the drawings, to increase the supporting area at the bottom edge of the side members.
The inner surface of each of the side members 5 is provided with vertically spaced horizontally extending grooves or channels 9 within which are conformably fitted the end portions of vertically spaced shelves i0. The side members are connected at their upper edges by a top II and as more clearly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings, the front edge of the side members and the rear edge thereof, above the extension 3 extend 5 parallel and in a rearwardly inclined position, while the shelves lll extend horizontally. Each of the shelves including the bottom shelf is provided with vertically aligned openings I2 in which rods 53 are inserted, the lower ends of the rods being retained against removal by a strip is suitably secured to the under side of the bottom shelf, the upper ends of the rods "being recessed in the top H. A group of the rods are arranged in parallelism with respect tothe side members 5 to provide vertical partitions whereby to form'compartments or so-called pigeonholes I4 between each of the shelves, the rear of each compartment being closed by vertically extending spaced rods it which are inserted through openings adjacent the rear edge of each of the shelves. Each of the compartments is provided with a label holder l6 secured to the front edge of each of the shelves. i
The compartments it are adapted to contain gloves or similar articles of apparel for display purposes and the compartment IT at one end of the shelves is constructed of an increased area to accommodate gloves of the gauntlet type.
It is believed the details of construction will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
A display rack comprising a pair of upstanding side members having their vertical edges inclined rearwardly, rollers supporting the members, extensions on the lower rear edges of the members providing an underlying support for the rear of the rack, a top member having recesses therein ARNOLD W. HILLMAN.
