Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE SALMON, OF TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF TI NNED SHEET-COPPER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 222,641, dated December 16, 1879; application filed September 5, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE SALMON, of Taunton, in the county of Bristol and Commouwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a certain new anduseful Improvement in the Manufacture of Tinned S-heetCopper; and I do hereby declare that the following is such a full, clear, and exact description thereof as to dition the sheets are passed through the rolls. This method of rolling the copper tinned sheets is of great advantage, as by this method the rolls are not brought in contact with the tinned surfaces of the copper sheets, and bright polish is imparted to those surfaces, thereby rendering them much more marketable.
I claim As an improvement in the art of polishing sheets of tinned copper, the placing of polished metal (preferably steel) between two sheets, and in contact with the tinned surfaces, and then passing the same between polished rolls, the latter rolling in contact with the copper surfaces, and thereby imparting a bright polish to both surfaces, substantially as described.
GEORGE SALMON.
Vitnesses PERCY M. BLAKE, EDMUND H. BENNETT.
