Description
0. A. BAILEY. Toy Money-Box.
No. 221,998. Patented Nov. 25, 1 879.
WITNESSES F NVENTOR ZZ/fla ATTORNEY N FETERS, FMDTO-LITHOGRAPMER, WASHINGTON, D 0' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. BAILEY, on COBALT, ooNnnoTIoUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY MONEY-BOXES.
Specificationforming part of Letters Patent No. 221,998, dated November 25, 1879; application filed October 11, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. BAILEY, of Cobalt, in the county of lVliddleseX and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Toy Watch- Banks; and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a perspective view of my improved toy watch-bank, and Fig. 2 is a central section thereof.
This invention has for its object to devise a cheap pocket-bank for carrying pennies, and
presenting the appearance of a watch.
The nature of the invention will be fully set forth hereinafter. In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates my improved bankwatch, composed of two cast-metal caps, to a, hinged together at one edge, and connected together at its other edge by a spring-catch connection.
The caps are cast'complete, and when taken out of the mold are ready to be put together.
' Secured to the cap a is a second cap, 1), forming therewith a receptacle, 0, into which the pennies are passed through slot 8, formed in cap I) at its junction with the cap a aforesaid.
The cap I) is usually stamped out of sheet metal, and is provided with the representation of a watch face and hands.
The exterior faces of the caps are neatly ornamented and finished, and the whole presents very much the appearance of a huntingcase watch.
This device will be found very convenient as a means for preventing coppers and small silver coins from getting lost in the pocket, and affords the boys a toy in imitation of a watch that they will greatly appreciate.
The caps being, as aforesaid, cast with their ornaments, hinge-lugs, and other attachments complete, the watch-bankis produced, at a very small cost, from white-metal, German silver, or other metallic alloys.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The watch-shaped toy bank'consisting of the cast-metal caps to a, hinged together at one side and connected at the other by a spring-catch, and the cap b, secured to the cap a, forming the receptacle 0, and having the slot 8, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES A. BAILEY.
