Theprimary objectof the invention is to provide novel means for lubricating all wearing parts at the connections between the side frame and equalizer members in order to materially reduce the frictionand wear between adjacent parts.

As best shown in Figs. 2 and 3, each end of. the equalizer member is provided with a pair of upstanding apertured ears 8 having Wear plates 1 welded to their inner surfaces. Another wear plate 8 is secured to an arc-shaped portion 9 which is arranged between and is located at the lower ends of the ears. The plate 9 and. the ears form a cradle for a supporting block III which has a curved bottom surface to slide on the plate 8.
The inner ends of the side frame members ll rest on the blocks l0 and are positioned between the ears 6, and they are loosely and turnably secured or movably connected to the ears by bolts I la. Wear plates l2 are welded to opposite sides of the ends of the side frame members and bear against the plates 1.
The operation of our truck requires clearance between the bolts Ila and the holes in the side frames ll because the. side frames must slide slightly on top of the blocks l0. Consequently, clearance is provided about the bolts (see Figs. 2 and 3) to permit movement of the inner ends of the side frames on the blocks l0, and movement of the blockson the plates 8 without the side frames contacting the bolts Ila. It will With the foregoingobject outlined and with therefore be apparent that the bolts function I more as retaining means than as pivotal connections for the'side frames and equalizers.
Lubricant pockets or reservoirs 93 are formed integral with the inner ends of the side frame 5 members, and ports [4 lead from the bottoms of the pockets to the bolts. Each pocket is preferably provided with an open upper end. When waste saturated .with lubricating 'oil i inserted in the pockets, such oil will pass fromv 10 the pocketsthi ough the ducts I4 to the bolts, then along them horizontally inboth directions to thewearing surfacesbetween the plates land l2. The oil passes between these plates by'gravity to the bottom of the connections where, it 15 lubricates the "wearing surface of the blocks II and plates 8. In this manner all wear parts at the connections are thoroughly lubricated, thereby. reducing the friction and wear between adjacent p'arts, I While we have disclosed what we now consider to be a'preferred embodiment of the invention in such manner that the same may be readily understood by those skilled in the art, we are aware that changes may be made in the details disclesed without" departing from the spirit of theinvention as expressed in the claims.
What we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
V 1. In a six-wheel car truck, an equalizer 'memher provided at each end with a pair of upstanding cars, a wear element carried by each end of said member and each having an arc-shaped concave portion, bearing blocks resting on thewear elements and having arc-shaped bottom surfaces 5 slidably engaging the arc-shaped portions of the wear elements, side frame members having end portions arranged between the ears and slidably resting onsaid blocks, the inner ends of the side frame members being provided with bolt holes, bolts of materially less diameter than said holes passing through the ears and holes for movably connecting the side frame members to the equalizer member, a reservoir provided on the end portion of each side frame member, ducts leading from thereservoirs to the bolt holes, and contacting wear plates surrounding the bolts and arranged between the ears and the end portions of the side frame members.
2. In an equalizer connection for a railway car truck, a first member provided with upstanding spaced ears and a curved supporting surface between the ears, a supporting block resting on said surface and slidab-le along the latter, a second lnfi ber having an end portion extending between said ears and slidably resting on said block for movement in a substantially horizontal plane, the end portion of the second member having a hole extending therethrough from one ear to the other, an oil reservoir provided on said second member above said hole, a bolt of materially less diameter than said hole passing through said ears and through said hole and connecting said members, the hole being of sumcient size to allow said members to move relatively toone another in a substantially horizontal plane, and a duct leading from the reservoir to said hole.
3. In an equalizer connection for a railway car truck, a first member having spaced projecting ears, a wear element supported by said member and having an arc-shaped concave portion arrangedbetween the ears, a supporting block having a curved bottom surface coinciding with the arc-shaped portion of the element and slidably engaging said concave surface, a second member having an end portion slidably resting on said block for movement relatively to the first member in a'substantially horizontal plane, said end portion of the second member having a hole extending therethrough from one ear to the other, means of materially less diameter than said hole, extending through the hole and movably connecting the ears to the end portion of the second member, an oil reservoir provided on the second member above said hole, and a duct for leading lubricant from said reservoir to said hole.
4. In an equalizer connection for a railway car truck, a first member having upstanding projecting ears, a supporting block slidably mounted on said member for movement about a horizontal axis and arranged between said ears, a second portion of the second member, an oil reservoir provided on the second member, and a duct leading from the reservoir to said hole.
5. In an equalizer connection for a railway car truck, a first member having spaced upstanding ears, a wear element secured to said member and having a concave curved upper surface arranged between said ears, a bearing block resting on said element and having an arc-shaped lower surface slidably engaging the concave surface of said element, a second member having an end portion arranged between the ears and slidable on said block in a substantially horizontal plane relative to said first member, said end portion of the second member being provided with a bolt hole extending from one ear to the other, a bolt of materially less diameter than said hole passing through the ears and hole for movably connecting said members together, wear plates secured respectively to the ears and to said end portion of the second member and arranged at the ends of the hole between the ears and said end portion of the second member so as to receive lubricant from said hole, an oil reservoir provided on the second member, and a duct leading from the reservoir to said bolt hole.
6. In a six-wheel car truck, an equalizer member provided at each end with a pair of upstanding ears, a wear element carried by each end of said member, each wear element having an arcshaped concave surface, bearing blocks resting on the wear elements and having arc-shaped bottom surfaces slidably engaging the concave surfaces of the wear elements, side frame members having end portions arranged between the ears and slidably resting on said blocks for movement in a substantially horizontal plane relatively to the equalizer member, each of said end portions of the side frame members being provided with a bolt hole, bolts of materially less diameter than said holes extending through the holes and connecting the side frame members to the equalizer member, a reservoir provided on each of said end portions of the side frame members, and. ducts leading from the reservoirs to the bolt holes.
