.ASH AND GARBAGE SAFE.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 22,176, dated November 30, 1858-.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM Gini, residing in the city of New York, county of New York, State ot' New York, and a citizen of the United States, have invented a new and Improved Safety Ash and Garbage Safe; and I do declare that the following is a full and exact description of the said invention.
The object of said invention being to pre vent pickers and other persons spreading the ashes. and garbage over the streets and pavements, and causing a bad odor, and thereby, becoming a nuisance. As the law requires that all garbage, ashes, and every other olal shall be placed in close vessels, and not to be thrown in the street, this iinproveinent is to prevent any access to it by any other person than the street scavenger as required by the municipal laws or regulations, and also to prevent the ashes from being blown about the streets, during high winds.
I construct a. safe or case B B, Figure l, square, elongated, or any other :torni suitable for the purpose. To this case B B, is attached a foot C with arnis attaching the foot to the case B B, also represented in Fig. 4. I then construct two chests F E, Fig. 2, to iit into the case B B, the one to hold garbage, the other to hold ashes. To these chests F E are attached handles H, H, I-I, H, Fig. 2, also rollers I I I I,
The case` B B Fig. l, has a cover A to shut tig'ht on the case B B, Fig. l, also seen closed at Fig. 4. To the cover A is attached a sniall catch K to fasten the chest F, Fig. 2, in its place, the chest E being secured by a lock connnon to both.
On the outside of the case at M, Fig. 4, is a projecting catch or guide to prevent the cover falling too far back.

lhat I claiin and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The combination in a close case of the two chests F E with rollers I I I I, Fig. 2, and arnis extending from foot C, Fig. l, at` tached to the case B B, the top being ornainented, also the inode of securing the said chests and case as herein described and for the purposes herein set forth.
