The outer layer is lined, this lining being in tWo sections` Il and I5, secured to each other by a seam I6, and secured respectively to the front portion II by a seaman, and to the cover portion I3 by a seamy I8 which also passes through reinforcing tape I 9, having a. core. I9a, secured between the cover portion I3 andthe lining `section I4 and running along the sides of the kit and around theedge ioi. the cover section. It will be observed thatthe seams I'Iand I8 are w`passed' through the inwardly turned edges of the `f material they unite, whereby the seam is not visible in the iinished bag.

Great conmience results .from the fact that the pockets 25 and areofledepththanthepocketsll, and 3|, as the appropriate pockets may than beselected for articles of various sizes so that if possible a portion of the article show above the mouth of the pocket, or at least its upper portion willbeso nearthemouthportionastobe accessible.

As an additional feature I may provide a closure for the purse kit. an arrangement for this purpose is shown as comprising a button 35 on the front portion il and a loop 3i on the cover portion that is adapted to slip over the button, as shown in Figure l, and thereby to close the kit- In order to give rigidity or body to kit I may use a stiiiening or reinforcing piece 1li, interposed between the rear and cover portions l2 and i3 and the lining section M.

It will be observed that all oi the searns imiting the various sections are concealed. This desirable result is obtained by assembling all of. the sections including the loop 3E in the proper order but with their edge portions dat of turned in), applying the seams i3, alla and Alab so as to unite them, and then turning the resulting assembly inside out. Before operation the lining l5 is united to the iront wall M by the seam il, the sections l5 and 2U and it and 2i are rst united by the seams 22 and 2G and 23 and 2l' and 28 respectively, and the but- 'ton 35 is attached to sections M and l5.

After the assembly is turned inside out the piece l0, doubled up, is inside the kit, and the section 20 forms the outside piece on one side, while the section 2| is the outside piece on the other side, but these sections are not yet by the seam i6. 'I'he reinforcingv piece may be slid into place through the opening between the sections 20 and 2l, which opening is thereafter closed by the seam i6. The sections and portions 20, i5 and Il are now manipulated so that they are brought to the same side as the section 2l, andthepursekitistheninitsnalorm.

While I have herein disclosed one illustrative embodiment of my invention and an illustrative manner of making the same, it is to be understood that the same may be embodied in many other forms without departing from the spirit thereof, as will be obvious to tho skilled in the art, and that the disclosure herein is by way of illustration merely and is not to be interpreted inaliniitingsense,andthatdonotlimitmyself other than as called for by the prior art.

Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what Irclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

L Apursekitcomprisinganouterlayufolded soastoconstituteai'rontwallandacomposite rear wall and cover portion, and mld purse kit further comprising a front lining, a pair of pocket forming sections and a lining for mid composite rear wall and cover portim between saidfrontwallandsaidrearwnllintbe order named, all of said pieces having their side edges inturned andsecuredtogetherbyasingle set of concealed stitches, and said cover portion and the overlying portion of said rear 'all and coverportionliningalsohavingtheiredges turnedin and unitedbyconcealedstltchmand said two lining sections secured together'by stitches but being otherwise unsecured.

2.Intheartoflingpursekitsfthe method comprising the steps of doubling over an outer section so as to form two portions, superposing and sewing together at their outer edge portions in the order named, said doubled over outer section, a lining section, a pocket forming section, a second pocket forming section, and a second lining section, but leaving the lower edges of said lining sections unsecured, inverting said assembly, whereby said pocket forming sections are brought to the outside of the purse kit, one on one side and the other on the other side, and said outer layer is inside the purse kit in doubled over position, introducing/ a relatively stili reinforcing member through the opening between said lining sections, uniting said lower edges of said lining sections so as to close said opening, and inverting said assembly so as to bring one portion of said doubled over section to the outside of the purse kit on one side thereof, and the other of said doubled over sections to the outside of the other side of said purse kit.

In the art of assembling purse kits, the method comprising the steps of superposing and sewing together at their outer edge portions a doubled over outer section, a lining section, a pocket forming section, a second pocket forming section, and a second lining section, but leaving the lower edges of said lining sections unsecured, said sections being arranged in such an order that on inverting said assembly said pocket forming sections are brought to the outside or" the purse kit, one on one side and the other on the other side, and said outer layer is inside the purse kit in doubled over position, and a lining section is interposed between each pocket section and the adjacent portion of the doubled over outer section, thereafter inverting said assembly, uniting said lower edges of said lining sections so as to close said opening, and inverting said assembly so as to bring one portion of said doubled over section to the outside of. the purse kit on one side thereof, and the other of said doubled over sections to the outside of the other side of said purse kit.

In the art of assembling purse kits, the method comprising the steps of uniting an edge of a lining section to an edge oi an outer section and securing a pocket forming sectionl to the outer face of said lining, securing a second pocket forming section to one side of a second lining section, doubling over said outer section, so as to bring the pocket section secured thereto uppermost, placing said second lining section over said outer section, so that its pocket forming section overlies the pocket forming section of said outer section, securing the lateral edges of said sections to each other by a single set 'of stitches on each side, but leaving the lower edges of said lining sections unsecured, inverting said assembly, whereby said pocket forming sections are brought to the outside of the purse kit, one on one side and the other on the other side, and said outer layer is inside the purse kit in doubled over position, introducing a relatively stil! reinforcing member through the opening between said lining sections and positioning it between one of said lining sections and the outer section, uniting ssldloweredgesotsaidliningsectionsso asto close said opening, and inverting said assembly so as to bring one portion of said doubled over sectionto the outsideof thepurse kit on'one sidethereot.andtheother ofsaid doubled over sections to the outside of the other side of said purse kit.
