A modified form of the driving washer is illustrated in Fig. 6 and, in this construction a driving engagement between said washer and the grinding wheel is effected by means of short fingers 28 that are formed integral with and depend from the edge of the washer and, which fingers enter recesses 29 that are formed in the top of the grinding wheel when the parts are assembled for use.
Formed in the lower portion of the stem I4 is an axial bore 30, the lower portion of which is threaded for the reception of a short threaded plug 3! and, the latter being provided in its lower end with a slot 32 for the reception of the point of a screw driver or like implement. Resting on the upper end of the plug 3| is the lower end of an expansive coil spring 33, the upper end thereof bearing against the lower end of a plunger 34 that is adapted to slide freely in the upper portion of the bore 3|] and, the upper end of this plunger is cone-shaped as designated by 35.
Formed through the wall of the stem surrounding the upper portion of the bore 30 are apertures 36 and, loosely arranged in each of these apertures is a small ball 31 of hard metal. These balls are normally forced outwardly by the coneshaped upper end 35 ofplunger 34, which latter tends to move upwardly under the pressure exerted by spring 33 and, the outward movement of these balls is limited by retaining lips 38 that are formed around the outer ends of the apertures 36.
As a result of the construction just described, the balls 3'! function as an expanding anti-friction bearing between the lower portion of the stem l4 and the valve stem guide in which said stem is positioned while the grinding implement is in service and thus, the lower portion of the stem is maintained for oscillating rotary motion on a fixed or definite axis, even-though the opening in the valve stem guide is larger in diameter than the diameter of the stem of the grinding implement. In addition, the balls carried by the lower portion of the stem provide an effective expanding anti-friction bearing between the stem and the fixed valve stem guide.
In the use of my improved valve seat grinding implement, the lower portion of the stem M which functions as a pilot is inserted downwardly into the valve stem bearing in the cylinder block and the implement is moved downward until the inclined face 22 of the grinding wheel engages the inclined seat of the valve.

Thus it will be seen that I have provided a valve seat grinding implement that is relatively simple in construction, inexpensive of manufacture and very effective in performing the functions for which it is intended.
It will be understood that minor changes in the size, form and construction of the various parts of my improved valve seat grinding implement, may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described, without departing from the spirit of my invention, the scope of which is set forth in the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a valve seat grinding implement, a stem provided with a shoulder and with a non circular portion located above said shoulder, a grinding wheel positioned on said stem and resting on said shoulder, there being depressions formed in the top of said grinding wheel, a driving washer provided with a non-circular aperture for the reception of the non-circular portion of said stem, members depending from said driving washer for engagement in the depressions in the top of the grinding wheel and means on the stem for looking the driving washer to the grinding wheel and for locking said grinding wheel against said shoulder.
2. In a valve seat grinding implement, a stem, a grinding wheel removably mounted on the upper portion of said stem, a driving washer arranged above said grinding wheel and having drivingengagement with said stem, said washer having driving engagement with said grinding wheel and an expansive anti-friction bearing arranged in the lower portion of said stem for engaging the valve stem guide and bearing in which the lower portion of said stem is positioned.
3. In a valve seat grinding implement, a stem, a grinding wheel removably mounted on the upper portion of said stem, a plurality of apertures formed in the lower portion of said stem, balls loosely arranged in said apertures and spring pressed means forengaging and tending to move said balls outwardly in said openings.
4. In a valve seat grinding implement, a stem, a grinding wheel removably mounted on the upper portion of said stem, a plurality of apertures formed in the lower portion of said stem, balls loosely arranged in said apertures, a plunger arranged for sliding movement in the lower portion of said stem for engaging said balls and. tending to move the same outwardly and a spring for exerting upward pressure against said plunger.
5. In a valve seat grinding implement the combination with a stem, of a grinding wheel re:- movably mounted on the upper portion of'said stem, a driving washer disposed above said grinding wheel and having driving engagement with said stem, said washer having driving. engagement with .said grinding wheel and anti-friction stem and anti-friction bearings carried by the lower portion of said stem for engaging the valve stem guide and bearing in which the lower portion of said stem is positioned While the device is in use.
