IMPROVEMENT IN PENDANTS FOR WATCH-rCASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 219,675, dated September 16, 1879; application filed March 10, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OASIMIR H. BIssoN, of Henderson, in the county of Sibley and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Watch-Oase, of which the followingis a specification.
The object of my invention is to construct a watch-case having all its joints air-tight, so
works in the case.
The invention consists in combining, in a stem-winding watch, a flanged stem, crown, and chambered pendant with a packing-ring and nut, as hereinafter described.

The pendant c is formed with a circular recess or chamber, and the stem g has out upon it a screw-thread for a circular nut, h, and is also formed with a flange or collar, i. A packing-rim g, k, of rub- I her or other suitable material, is clamped be tween the collar i and nut h, which packing fits the chamber of the pendant tightly.
By this construction there is no opportunity for dust to enter the watch-case, and the joints can be made tight enough to exclude water. The watch-movement will be inclosed in an air-tight case, and will run without cleaning or lubrication much longer than watches having hinged joints and dust-bands as heretofore made, and which admit more or less dust.
The manner of packing the stem may also be applied in connection with a key-winding watch.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a stem-winding watch, the combination, with the flanged stem 9, crown f, and chambered pendant c, of the packing-ring L and nut h, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
