To then secure the molding strips in position, the 'tensioning screws 28 are adapted to be tightened down to the maximum limit possible which is determined by engagement of the lever arms 25 with the stop 29, said stop acting to prevent excessive tensioning of the screws. During the tightening of the screws 28, the lever arms 25 will be forced downwardly so that the lever members 24 will rock upon the toothed portion 21 on the ledge i6 and as the teeth 26 of said lever members are in engagement with said toothed portion, movement of the lever arms results in a bending or flexing of the spring arms 22, and it is this spring tension which clamps the molding strip between the front and back members of the metal sash. The particular type of metal sash sections 5, 6 and 1 herein disclosed form no part of the present invention per se as they are more specifically illustrated, described and claimed in my Patent No. 2,103,732, issued Dec. 28, 1937.
The ventilator 33 comprises a rectangular main I frame 31 comprising horizontal bottom and top members 38 and 39 and vertical side members 48 suitably connected together and mitered at their adjacent ends as at 4!. Each frame member 38,
. 39 and 40 is provided at its forward edge with an inwardly directed flange 42 which engages the outer face of the glass sheet 43 inserted within said frame. Mounted within the main frame 31, inwardly of glass sheet 43, is a sub-frame composed of strips 44 L-shaped in crosssection and having flanges 45 engaging the inner face of the glass sheet. The flanges 42 and 45 serve to firmly secure the glass sheet within the frame 37, although the said sheet can be readily removed by simply removing the screws 46 which secure the strips 44 in place. The members 38, 39 and 40 of the main frame 31 are each provided intermediate its inner and outer'edges with an outwardly extending, substantially wide rib 41, said ribs being disposed inwardly of and overlapping the molding strips 30, 3| and 32.
' The main frame 31; carrying theglass sheet 43, is adapted to be hinged to one of the molding strips 30, 3i and 32 and, as shown in the drawing, the said frame is attached to the molding strip by means of a hinge 48, one section of the hinge being secured to the said molding strip 30 by screws 49 while the other hinge section is secured to the rib 41 of frame member 38 by screws 50. When the ventilator 33 is moved to closed position as shown in full lines in Fig. 2, the main frame 31 will be received within the window opening defined by the molding strips 30, 3| and 32,
'with the front faces of said molding strips being substantially flush with the flanges 42 which form the front face of the ventilatorframe 31. on the other hand, when the ventilator is opened, the upper end thereof is swung inwardly upon hinges 48 as indicated by the broken lines in Fig. 2 and any suitable means can be provided for holding the ventilator in the desired open position.
In order to effectively seal the ventilator against the entrance of dirt, water, etc., there is carried by the rib 41 of each frame member 38, 39 and 40, a longitudinally extending strip 5| of rubber, rubber composition, or the like, and which strips engage the inner faces of the molding strips 34, 3| and 32 to form a tight joint when the ventilator is in closed position.

I claim: v
1. In a sash or store front construction, the combination with a window frame, and a metal sash construction extending around said frame and carried thereby, oi molding strips removably carried by the metal sash construction and defining a window opening. and a ventilator for closing said window opening hinged to one 01 said molding strips and removable therewith without requiring disassembly of the metal sash construction, said ventilator engaging another of said molding strips when in closed position.
2. In a sash or store front construction, the combination with a window frame, and a metal sash construction extending around said frame and carried thereby, of molding stripsremovably carried by the metal sash construction and desaid window opening hinged to one of said molding strips and removable therewith without requiring disassembly of the metal sash construction, said ventilator engaging another of said molding strips when in closed position, and means for sealing the ventilator when closed against the entrance of dirt and water.
3. In a sash or store front construction, the combination with a window frame, and a metal sash construction extending around said frame and carried thereby, said sash construction including relatively movable front and backmembers, of molding strips removably clamped between the front and back members of the metal sash construction and defining a window opening, and a ventilator for closing said window opening hinged to one of said molding strips and removable therewith without requiring disassembly of the metal sash construction, said ventilator engaging another of said molding, strips when in closed position.-
4. 10. In a sash or store front construction, the
combination with a window frame, and a metal sash construction extending around said frame and carried thereby, of molding strips removably carried by the metal sash construction and defining a window opening, a ventilator for closing said window opening including a frame comprising bottom, top and side members provided with outwardly projecting ribs arranged inwardly of and overlapping said molding strips, hinge means for connecting the rib of one of said frame members to one of the said molding strips so that the said frame is removable with said molding strips without requiring disassembly of the metal sash construction, and means carried by said ribs and engaging said molding strips for sealing the ventilator when closed against the entrance of dirt and water.

In a sash or store front construction, the combination with a window frame, and a metal sash construction extending around said frame and carried thereby, said sash construction including relatively movable front and back members, of molding strips removably received between the front and back members of the metal sash construction and defining a window opening, means independent of said molding strips for connecting the front and back sash members together to clamp said molding strips therebetween, said molding strips having shoulders engaging the front members of the metal sash construction to position the said strips with respect to the said metal sash construction, a ventilator for closing said window opening including a frame comprising bottom, top and side members provided with outwardly projecting ribs arranged inwardly of and overlapping said molding strips, and hinge means for connecting the rib of one of said frame members to one of the said molding strips so that the said frame is removable with said molding strips without requiring disassembly of the metal sash construction.
12. In a sash or store front construction, the combination with a window frame, and a metal sash construction extending around said frame and carried thereby, said sash construction ineluding relatively movable front and back members, of molding strips removably received between the front and back members of the metal sash construction and defining a window opening, means independent of said molding strips for connecting the front and back sash members together to clamp said molding strips therebetween, said molding strips having shoulders engaging the front members of the metal sash construction to position the said strips with respect to the said metal sash construction, a ventilator for closing said-window opening including a frame comprising bottom, top and side members provided with outwardly projecting ribs arranged inwardly of and overlapping said molding strips, hinge means for connecting the rib of one of said frame members to one of the said molding strips so that the said frame is removable with said molding strips without requiring disassembly of the metal sash construction, and means carried by said ribs and engaging said molding strips for sealing the ventilator when CLYDE D.
