This invention relates to toys and particularly to improvements in toy rattles and a resilient means of supporting the same.

Toys of this character are used of course to 5 amuse very small children, each of whom seems to have the common impulse to toss his toys onto the floor with the result that they must be picked up and handed to the child or placed upon his tray.

object of my invention to provide a rattle or similar toy with a flexible support and suction cup, which when applied to a supporting surface will firmly adhere thereto so as to allow the flexible support to flex and move. the rattle back and forth when engaged, and at the same time to prevent the toy from falling or being disengaged and tossed to the floor.

A further object of the invention is to provide each part of the combination of elements making up the rattle with a separable connecting means, whereby various styles and typesof rattles and supporting posts may be substituted and interchanged.

Referring to the drawing, 10 denotes a suction cup of elastic and resilient material, such as rubber. In operation, the suction cup i0 is fixed to a supporting surface, usually-a tray, not shown, and the child either grips the post I! and. causes it to sway to bring the chimes of the rattle 22 25 into play, or he strikes the rattle, which then bobs backward and forward ringing its chimes until the flexible post I! has righted itself. It will be appreciated that in manufacturing and in assembling this toy, the possible variety of color com- 'binations is very large as well as the different styles of rattles which may be used, it being mere- 1y necessary to substitute one rattle for another, the stud 2i of which is simply inserted in the bore 20, the wall thereof being rubber grips and adheres to the stud.

Having described my invention and the manner in which the same is used, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
