Description
1. E GUIMOND I' BOWLING 'PIN v Filed. June 21, 1959 drawing wherein Patented Nov. 2l, 1939i i )UNITED STATES PATENT Aori-"Ict:
i Ammiano r1', lass, sonal No. 280,402' 1 cmm.- (c1. 27s-sz) l The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in ,bowling pins and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as 'hereinafter set lforth, an article of this char-- acter comprising a novel protective covering of rubber whereby the life of'the pin will be con' siderably prolonged, in addition to greatly reducing noise when in use. A
Another very important object of the inven- 10 tion isr to 'provide a bowling pin of the afore mentioned character comprising novel means for holding the lrubber covering on the core or body of the pin. y Other objects of the invention are to pro` lv'vido a bowling pin of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong and durable. attractive in appear' ance andwhich may be manufactured at lowcost. 90 All ofthe foregoing and still further objects andadvantages of the invention will become apparentr from a study of the following speciilcaf y tion, taken in connection with the accompanying like' characters of reference -35 designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a bowling pin constructed in accordance with the present invention.
30 Figure `2 is a vertical sectional view, takensubstantially on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a view in `horizontal section, taken substantially on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to 4g a multiplicity of passages or bores 2 the purthe drawing in detaiLit vsi; will be seen that the embodiment or the invenpose of which will be presenny set forth. This is shown to advantage in Figs. 2 and 3- of the drawing.
The core or body I of the' pin is enclosed in Aa'.
rubber covering 3. As best seen in Figs. 1 and 3 5 extend at different angles through the body ory core I.
It will -thus be seen that a bowling pin has been provided which includes a moisture proof, 15 rubber covering which yprotects the entire core or body of the pin. Also, the rubber lcovering 3 greatly reduces the usual noise which occurs with pins made entirely of wood, such as those in substantially universal use at present. The 20 rubber for the `covering 3 is molded in'a green state on the core or body I and flows through the passages 2.
It is believed that kthe many advantages of a bowling pin constructed in accordance with the 25 present invention will be readily understood and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes'in the details of constructionA maybe resorted to which will fall within the l3o scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
A bowling pin comprising a body having a plurality of passages extending therethrough, a
rubber covering enclosing the body, and ties 35 integral with the rubber f covering extending through` the passages and constituting means for retaining said covering on the body.
