This invention relates to a folding box display case and contemplates a structure formed from a single sheet of material such as card board which is capable of being quickly and conveniently folded to hold a plurality of articles or smaller containers in a pleasing and desirable manner for quick dispensing or shipping.
The main object of this invention resides in the novel manner in which a single blank of sheet material can be cut and scored to permit a folding operation resulting in a container with an inclined base for display purposes and a shiftable member to act as a support when utilizing the inclined base or as a filler when assembling the structure for shipping to present a rectangular structure.
Another object resides in the provision of a front wall assembly capable of use in open display or in conjunction with a transparent cover of Cellophane or a slotted closed panel for individual dispensing.
Another object includes the upper end structure which cooperates with the front for closing the container in shipping or may be folded and secured against the back wall during display and dispensing and for advertising purposes.

Reference will be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the device assembled for display.

Referring first to the blank it will be seen that the entire structure is of integral form and includes an elongated panel of suitable card-board or the like forming the back wall I defined by scored lines 2 and 3, upper end wall 4 between the score line 2 and 5 and front wall portion 6 formed by the upper extremity of the panel extending beyond the score 5. The lower portion of the elongated panel is scored at l and 8, the score line 1 extending the full width of the side extensiofis l and II. The side extensions Ill and l I are defined by angular upper end portions and narrow elongated strips, the latter extending parallel to the panel body and projecting slightly beyond the latter. The upper marginal edges of the side extensions Ill and II are defined by the angular faces, l2 and M which merge at the ends of the score line 7. The inner marginal edges of the extensions III and II substantially midway of their length are formed with cuts or slots for cooperating with additional elements as will hereinafter appear. Completing the main panel are the spaced tabs I at the low-er marginal edge for engaging the slots l6 formed at the score line 1 and the arcuate cut ll providing a tab for assembly.
Contiguous with the main panel and extending from that portion of same forming the rear or back wall I is a blank constituting the side walls l8 and I9, front wall 25! and bottom wall 2!. The front wall is cut out at 22 to expose the merchandise in the container and is defined from the side wall l8 and 23 and from the bottom by score line 24. The bottom 2! has end flap 25 projecting therefrom and defined by score line 26 to permit this flap to be folded for engagement with the rear wall I formed in the main panel. A slot 27 is formed in the flap 25 for engagement with the flap defined by cut I! in the main panel. Lateral flaps 28 extend from the bottom 2| and are capable of being bent at score lines 29 to facilitate the sealing of the base. A sealing tab 39 is defined from the side wall H) by score line 3| and an extension tab 32 projects from the lower end to cooperate therewith in completing its function. Tabs 33 defined by score line 34 are provided at the upper end of the side walls l8 and I9. It will be noted that the upper marginal edges of the front portion 23 and side walls I8 and I9 are curved upwardly and merge into a scalloped design to render this portion more presentable in display.
In assembly the blank heretofore described is folded on the various score lines shown and described and the cooperating parts assembled. The side walls l8 and 9, front wall 2i and contiguous tabs complete the lower portion of the container unit. With this portion of the assembly is the upper end 4 and front closure portion 6. The slot 21 receives the arcuate tab defined by score IT and retains the bottom in position and the tab is glued to the inner marginal face of the rear wall I. The lower portion of the main panel and the side extensions ii] and l l are folded along the score line completing the angular end which also functions as a support when the assembly is in display position.

It will be noted that due to the angular lower marginal edges of the side walls l8 and 19 the lower end of the assembled structure is rearwardly inclined thus more fully presenting the front of the structure to display. It will be also noted that the shifting supporting portion cornprises a unit which in shipping position forms a rectangular box end, being of a size and shape to occupy that angular space immediately below the base. It will be seen that the shifting support, when the assembly is in display position, is swung rearwardly to engage against the back of the container body, and when so positioned its lower face is flush with the lower face of the container, thus increasing the width of the base surface and directly bracing and supporting the structure in its rearwardly inclined display position.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A combined folding box and display case comprising a single folded cut-out scored and cut for folding to form either an open top and front display receptacle with an inclined bottom or a rectangular shipping container with a front display opening, the rear panel embodying a top extension scored transversely to permit folding in flat display position or to provide an upper end wall and front closure portion and a lower extension scored and cut to permit folding into a hinged brace and filler element having a laminated bottom face when in position as a filler element, the laminations being locked by tongue and groove interlock and being confined by angular integral end walls, and the front and side walls extending from the rear panel and embodying a fragmentary intermediate portion forming an open front for cooperation with the top extension of the rear panel when in receptacle form, the front portion being interposed between side wall extensions and a bottom extension, the latter when in folded position comprising the bottom of the receptacle, and means for locking the bottom of the receptacle in position including a tongue struck from the rear panel and a slot for cooperating therewith formed in the bottom extension.
