v ATTORNEYS Patented sept. s, 193s UNITED STATES. PATENT "o1-F1os I l n 2 oosrnrns'rron I y Belle Jones, Hickman Mills, Mo. "Ammann` irma-17,*- im, serial Nn. maarl :om (criss-19) This invention relates to toilet -articlesin the nature lof a lipstick and blender holder that may be carried in the purse and which is unitaryjin form so that both the `lipstick and blender are 'l available through the haudlingvof but-one element and its cover. One of the important aims ofthe instant invention is the provision of a. combination lipj stick and blender bothof .which are housed in a 'lo Nspecially formed* case in a fashion so as'to ybel projected therefrom singly or simultaneously so that after the lipstick is used, spreading and outlining may take place through the employnment of the blender while the lipstick per se, is ll completely housed in that portion ofthe rcase partitioned offfor its reception.v
, Itis wellknown in the art that the use 'of the fingers or an instrument which is not maintained 4 in -s. sanitary condition to spread and outline the a0 rouge after it has been applied, is unsanitary and dangerous because of the possibility of' infection resulting from the application of gems directly f to the lips by the fingers or such aforesaid instrument. Itis desirable therefore, to completely gg encase the blender which is to be used with the lipstick while it is not in operation, and since the employment of the blender occurs directly after using the lipstick. it is preferable to enclose the two elements in a specially created case that l is provided with structure .for projecting either one of the elements from the case to an operative position, both elements being simultaneously projectedifdesired., l
Another object of the invention includes the 35 provison of uniquely arranged linger plates which areV struck or otherwise provided onthe holders for the lipstick and blender', thatA project outwardly through slots in the case'and'v notches in the cover in such a way as to insure that the an lipstick andblender are completelyA housed withinthe case when the cover therefor, is in its normal position.
Minor objects of the invention, including speciilc details of construction will appear during the course of the following specification, referring to the accompanying drawing wheren:
Figure l is a perspective view of a combination lipstick and blender made to embody the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal central section through the device. y
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the case forming a part of the device showing the cover entirely u removed therefrom.
Fig. v'4 is a crosssectional view taken on line IVQIV of Fig. 2; and,
Fig. 5 is anenlarged fragmentary elevationof the portion of the device showing the relation Abetween theparts as the cover is moved over the ll'A 4upper portion o f the case.-
, l I'he case 6 of this device is made of any suitable material and formed so as to present a pair of opposed. side walls 4- and opposed edge walls Il.
A bottom I 2 a shoulder I4 formed thereon, l0- closes one end of case 0 and a transverse partition I4 divides the Ainterior of case I into a'compartment .Il and a compartment 2l; Each edge wall I l has aslot 22 provided therein that extends longitudinally along the medial line oilwall It and I5 terminates short of the ends of walls Il.
Compartment I 4 lmay receive blender 24. This blender is madeof tightly compactedlibrous material that presents a stick-like body Vhaving a dome shaped `head 22. Ihe other endof blender 20 24 extends into a cup 28 that has ears `lll struck therefrom, to project through slot 22formed in the proximal edge I0 of case 6. These ears 'I0 vproject far enough beyond the outer face of wall III to pass through notch 22 formedv in cover 24. 25
A plate is secured tothe projected ends of ears III' and extends laterally to each side of ears 30 to provide overhanging anges 2l that engage the outer, surface of cover 34 when the same is in place. I I 30 Lipstick 40 is of the conventional type and charactenand is held by a cup 42 that slides longitudinally along compartment 2l. This cup 42 like cup 2l, has a pair of ears 44 struck therefrom, and a plate 4l secured thereto in precisely 35 the same manner as set down with respect to plate 38. overhanging portions 48 of plate. 48 are practically against the outerV face of cover 24 when the device is assembled.
`A slit 5I) extends longitudinally from one end of each slot 22 so as to set olf a pair of ears 52, the outer faces of which are spaced apart a distance about the same as the distance between longitudinal edges of cover 34 forming notch 32. 55
the operator, yet avoids accidental displacement. l
It is understood that a combination lipstick and blender embodying this invention, might be made to present a physical appearance other than that illustrated in the accompanying drawingA andA therefore, it is desired to be limited only by. the scope of thevappended claims. Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Let-k ters Patent is:
1. A device of the character described comprsing an open-end case having a central lon-v gitudinal partition dividing the case into two compartments Aand provided 'with longitudinal slots in opposed walls of the case; a cup slidably mounted in each compartment respectively; laterally extending ngerson the cups projecting through the slots in the case; a cover adapted for full telescoping engagement with the case and provided with notches in opposed sides thereof; and laterally 'extending ears on they said opposed walls of the case disposed to first enterthe notches in the cover,A then frictionally engage the inner faces of said opposed sides of the cover as the latter is moved to anormal position on the case.
2. A 1 device of the character described comprising an open-end case having a central longitudinal partition dividing vthe case into twoA compartments Vand provided with longitudinal y slots in opposed walls of the case; a cup slidably mounted in each compartment respectively; laterally extending fingers on the cups projecting through the slots in the case; a cover adapted for full telescoping engagement with the case and provided with notches in opposed sides thereof; and a pair of spaced apart, parallel, `laterally extending ears on each of the opposed 'walls of the case disposed to first enter the notches in the cover then to frictionally engage the inner faces of said opposed sides of the cover as the latter is moved to a normal position over the case, )the distance between the outer faces of said ears being substantially the same as the :width of said notches and the Width of said laterally extending ngers on the cups.
i 3. A device of the characterdescribed comprising an open-end case having a central longitudinal partition dividing the case into two compartments ancll provided with longitudinal slots in opposed walls of the case; a cup slidably mounted in each compartment reSPectively; laterally extending fingers on the cups projecting throughthe slots in the case; a cover adapted rfor `full telescopingengagement with the case and provided with notches in opposed sides thereof and apair of spacedapart, parallel; laterally v extending ears on each ofthe opposedwalls of the case disposed to Aiirst enter the notches in the cover then to frictionally ,engage the inner faces o f 'said opposed sides of the cover as the latter is moved to a normal position over the case, the distance between the outer faces of said ears .being substantially the .same as the width of said notches andthe width of said laterally extending fingers on vthe cups, said ears` having arcuate free vedges formed to" gradually force apart the Aopposedlsides ofthe cover as it ismoved over the case towardy the normal position.
