This and other objects will be apparent and be brought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein Fig. l is the fragmentary view showing the underside of a carpet and a portion of the tacking tape partially secured thereto, and 1I Fig. 2 is a view of same showing the tacking tape completely secured to the carpet and Fig. 3 is a vertical section view of the same as it would appear in use.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, I ,o show a fragmentary portion of a carpet 5 having a fabric portion E and nap 1 and having a linear edge portion 8 which is to be secured to the floor adjacenta wall or otherwise. The tacking tape comprising my invention consists of a blind 25 binding tape S which may be blind stitched along an edge I0 to the edge 8 or carpet fabric. A cover y the carpet can be laid along a wall or baseboard and will be securely held and that no tack heads Will be visible. It will also be apparent that the blind stitching along the edge 8 of the fabric will also serve to keep the nap of the carpet from 5 coming out.
It will be understood that the tacking tape comprising my invention may be made in colors similar to colors of the carpet and that it may be secured to the carpet in other means substan 10 tially equivalent to those shown herein above.
Having described my invention, what I claim is:
l. Tacking tape as described comprising a tape strip adapted to have an edge secured toan edge of a carpet and having an opposite edge secured to said carpet along a line spaced from said carpet edge, a second tape strip secured to and along said first strip adjacent said carpet and a plurality of tacks extending through said first 20 strip and having the head portions thereof between said strips.
2. Tacking tape as described comprising a tape strip adapted to have an edge secured to an edge of a carpet and having an opposite edge secured to said carpet along a line spaced from said carpet edge, a second tape strip secured by adhesive means substantially throughout the area thereof to and along said first strip adjacent said carpet and a plurality of tacks extending through said rst strip and having the head portions thereof between said strips.
