This invention relates to bathing trunks for -men, women, and children, of the type made from knitted, woven, sheet rubber, or other material, and adapted to fit closely around the waist and to provide a covering for the lower portion of the body. I Y
One object of the present invention is to pro- .vide the trunks with a slide fastener of the Zipper or like type. whereby the garment may be completely opened to facilitate removal after the wearer has donned an outer garment over such trunks. Another object is to provide a slide fastening means whereby the garment may be sepaient material, and may be shaped or'fashioned 4 consisting fill rated into twoside portions for independent removal.
invention or sacrificing any of theadvanta'ges' thereof. I Fig. 1 is a front view of a garment made in accordance with this invention;
Fig. 2 is a view of the same garment opened for removal. I I The garment shown on the drawing may be made from knitted or woven textile material, or from sheet rubber, or other suitable or convento conform to the contours of the body, and the edges of the waist and leg openings may be bound or-finished off in any desired or usual manner.
The slide fastenings are manipulated by a slide '21 which is formed with a slot 2| through which a waist belt 29 is adapted to pass in such manner that the belt when passed through the usual retaining straps 25 effectively retains the slide 21 in position to retain the fasteners or Zippers in their closed position. I
The trunks comprise two side portions each of a front-part 30 and a rear part 3| having the co-engaging slide fasteners 2 extending from the waist line at the back of the garment downwardly beneath the crotch and upwardly to the waist line at the front of the garment. With this form of garment the separation of the two side sections bymeans of the slide fastener permits of the two side parts being independently removed by drawing the same (01.2-87) downwardly each/over one leg, so that the trunks may be conveniently removed in separate' parts, after certain of theouter garments have been donned by the wearer. The conveniently removablebathing trunks 5 forming the subject of the present invention are adapted for use by men, women, and children and provide means whereby the trunks may be conveniently-removed while certain of the outer garments are being worn. The trunks may be conveniently removed after the wearer has donned outer trousers or slacks;
Although the drawing and the above specification disclose the best mode in which I have contemplated embodying my invention, I desire to be in no way limited to the details of such disclosure, for in thefurther practical application of my invention many changes in form and construction may be made as circumstances may require "or experience suggest, without departing from the spirit of the invention within the scope of the appended claims. I In its preferred form the fastening means consists-of Zippers" or slide fasteners, but it will be understood that I do not restrict myself to O this type of. fastening and rows or series of buttons, hooks, or suitable-snap or press fasteners may. be employed within the scope of this invention. I
What I claim is: 1 30 1. Bathing trunks of the character described comprising two leg encircling ring shaped portions, fastening means for connecting said portions together along the central back, crotch, and front lines of the trunks. an actuating member for said fasteningmeans, a slotin said member: and a waist encircling belt connected to the .upper edge of the trunks andpassed through said slot.
2. Bathing trunks of the character described 40 comprising two exactly similar sections, each consisting of a closed ring to encircle a leg, and
. front, back, crotch, and waist-portions, fastening means of the "Zipper type for connecting the two sections together along a central line extending around the back. front, and crotch of the garment, a slide for the actuation of the "zipper, a belt connected to the trunks around the waist portion ,thereof, and a slot formed in the said slide and penetrated by said belt to retain the slide in position to prevent opening of the garment.
