POULTRY BLOOD TESTING TABLE I Filed D80. l4, 1957 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Invenior 7 p wwow 'k Wfi C/ oo/ns A iiorneys Patented June 6, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 4 Claims.
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements whereby poultry can be tested in a quick and convenient marmer.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a rotary table upon which poultry can be placed and their blood tested conveniently by the testing attendant without requiring removal of the bird from the table.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a blood testing table for poultry which in use will eliminate a considerable number of operations now required by persons attending the blood testing of poultry.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a side elevational view of the table.
Figure 2 is a top plan view.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical sectional View at approximately the line 3-3 of Fig. 2 but with the box removed.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary side elevational View of the top portion of the table with parts omitted.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen in Figure 1 that the table consists of the standard 5 from which extend radially, the legs 6.
The standard 5 is hollow for receiving the post i and a set screw 8 is provided on the standard for engagement with the post I to hold the post in the desired adjusted extended position.
As is shown in Figure 3, numeral 9 represents the table top which is provided with the central opening IQ for receiving the upstanding barrel ll of the plate l2, which plate is disposed against the bottom side of the table top 9 and in opposed position to the ball bearing IS on the carrier M. A collar 15 on the post 1 supports the ball hearing carrier 14 as shown in Figure 3. The post 7 extends upwardly through the barrel II and is provided with the reduced tubular extension I6 at its upper end, defining a shoulder ll against which the lower convolution of the coiled compressible spring it rests. A boss [9 on the lower portion of the plate 20 engages into the upper convolution of the spring I8 and thus the supporting plate 213 is resiliently supported. On this plate 20 is placed the test box 2! and the spring l8 obviously serves to allow the box 2! to be rocked to hasten agglutination and to facilitate the reaction.
At equal spaced intervals around the edge portion of the table top 9 are located and suitably secured in place, U-shaped clip structures 22 having upwardly converging leg portions for engaging the legs of fowls which are disposed head inwardly under the retaining rails 23-24. Each of these rails 2324 is of sem-circular shape having trunnions 25 at its end portions for disposition through the openings of the brackets 26-41. A coiled extensible spring 28 connects the intermediate portion of each of the rails 2324l with the table top 9, thus holding the rails downwardly and tensionally against the fowls.
An annular wall structure 29 has its lower edge portion embedded in the table top 9 or otherwise secured in place, if desired, for defining a trough in which various articles useful to the operation of blood testing can be kept. A drawer 30 is slidably supported underneath the table top for containing instruments or the like.
Obviously, the person testing the fowls can sit or stand in one position and merely rotate the table to bring the fowls successively within his reach. Furthermore, it is to be understood that the table rotates independently of the test box 2| so that the test box always remains in one position for use by the tester.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention what is claimed as new is:
1. A device of the class described comprising a base a post supported by the base a table top rotatably arranged on the post, said post having a part extending above the table top, a test box supporting member, resilient means for connecting the bottom of the supporting member to the upper end of the post, means carried by the table top for holding fowls thereon, and a cylindrical member carried by the top and arranged adjacent the center thereof.
2. A blood testing table comprising a support, a table top rotatably mounted on the support, said support including a post rising above the table top, a test box, and means resiliently supporting said box on the upper end of the post for rocking and tilting movement thereon.
3. A blood testing table comprising a support, a table top rotatably mounted on the support, said support including a post rising above the table top, a coiled spring having a part encircling the upper end of the post, a plate supported by said coil spring, and a test box surmounting said plate.
4. A blood testing table comprising a support, a
table top rotatably mounted on the support, said 5 support including a post rising above the table top, a test box, resilient means for supporting the test box on the upper end of the post, spring clamps adjacent the outer edge of the table top gripping the legs of fowls, and spring actuated arcuate bars on said table for holding fowls on the same.
