(01. sis-s8) p This invention relates to a ventilator adapted I to be placed in windows and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide an adjustable frame adapted to be placed in windows 5 Tof varying widths and provided with pivoted ,sh'utters operated by an electric motor which is :controlled from a distant point, whereby one lyingjin bed, for instance, can open and close the shutters by simply manipulating a switch placed close at hand and which controls the circuit to the motor.
2; This invention also consists in certain other I features of construction and in the combination and arrangement 'of several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out 7 in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherethrough the device.

A plurality of shutters I extend longitudinally in the frame i and have pintles 8 at their ends which pass through holes in the end members of the frame I, the shutters overlapping when closed, as shown in Figure 4 with the upper and lower shutters engaging parts of the frame i as also shown in Figure 4.
Right angular projections 9 are formed on the shutters at one end thereof and these projections are connected together by a bar l so that the shutters will move in unison and a curved strap II is connected with the inner face of the lowermost shutter and passes through a hole [2 formed in a motor housing l3 where the other end of the strap is connected to a pitman I 4 which is eccentrically pivoted to a worm wheel I engaged by a worm l6 of a motor M arranged in the housing, the housing being connected to a part of the frame I.
The motor is adapted to be connected to any suitable sourceof electric supply by the conductors I! and the current is controlled by a switch i8 connected with the conductor I!) so that the switch can be placed at a remote point from the device, such, for instance, adjacent the bed of a person so that such person can open and shut the shutters without leaving the bed. When the motor is in operation it rotates the worm wheel l5 and this wheel through the connections shown will open and close the shutters so that it is simply necessary to stop the motor when the shutters are in the desired position.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a ventilator of simple construction and one which can fit various sizes of windows, and the shutters of which are operated by a motor so that it is simply necessary to close the circuit to the motor to open and close the shutters and by locating the switch of the motor circuit at a distant point one can open and close the shutters 4 without leaving his seat or bedand with prac tically no efiort.- i I I It is thought-from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:
