IMPROVEMENT lN HORSESHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,764, dated May 27, 1879 application filed December 27, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, GEORGE MOEBS and CONRAD LANDSCHNEIDER, of Detroit, in the county of Wayne and-State of Michigan, have invented an Improvement in Horseshoes, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of our invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the construction of horseshoes which are provided with interchangeable and detachable heel and toe calks; and the invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of parts, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of a horseshoe, looking at the bottom thereof. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same on the line a: w in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an elevation of a heel or toe calk detached.
In the accompanying drawings, which form, a part of this specification, A represents a To prevent the toe-call: from turning, we use a similarly-shaped iron, F, the flange of which overhangs the inner face of the shoe at that point, while its opposite end impinges against the inner face of the toe-calk, and this piece is secured by the bolt G, tapped into the shoe.
7e are aware that detachable calks havebeen heretofore secured to shoes by means of threaded shanks and threaded holes tapped into the shoe, and that such calks have been prevented from turning by an additional screw or screws passed through the base of the calks, or entered into the shoe in a recess in the calks, and we do not claim such to be our invention; but
What we claim as our invention is The horseshoe A, having heel and toe calks B O, secured by threaded shanks, and the L- shaped plates D F, held by bolts E G, forpreventing the said calks from turning, constructed and arranged substantially as described and shown.
