Description

April 1939. c;v P. HEREFQRE) 2,152,692
CARD vRACK Filed April 6, 1938 INVENTOR GERALD PAGE HEREFORD ATTORNEY Patented Apr. 4, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFEQE 5 Claims.
This invention relates generally to card-racks and, more particularly, to a certain new and useful improvement in card-racks of the type more commonly known and designated as masscard holders or spiritual boquet stands, my invention having for its object the provision of a stand or rack of the type stated which is simple, inexpensive, durable, and readily portable in structure, which is artistic and attractive in appearance, and which is eflicient in the performance of its intended functions.
And with the above and other objects in view, my invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and combina- 0 tion of parts presently described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing,
Figure 1 is a front elevational view, partly broken away and in section, of a spiritual boquet stand or rack of my invention;
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the stand or rack; and
Figures 3 and 4 are enlarged detail or fragmental views of the stand or rack, taken approximately on the lines 3-3 and 4-4, Figure 1, respectively.
Referring now more in detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates a preferred embodiment of the rack or stand, the rack or stand includes a suitable standard or pedestal A which, in turn, preferably comprises a base I, an upstanding tubular post 2, and a rod 3 telescopically for length-adjustment fitting the post 2, a set-screw or the like 4 being thread-seated in post 2 for engaging the rod 3 for securing the latter in height-adjusted position,
Forming substantially a part of standard A and suitably fixed centrally of its bight, as at 5, to and upon the upper end of rod 4, is a U-shaped bracket '6 upon which is mounted the head B of the rack.
Head B is of artistic so-called skeleton-formation and includes a pair of suitably spaced concentric rings or ovals i, 8, the inner smaller ring or oval i being spot-welded or otherwise fixed on the upper ends of the upwardly presented legs 6 of the bracket 6 and the outer larger ring or oval 8 being joined in surrounding relation to the inner ring or oval l by a plurality of connecting rods Q and lQ-I0,note particularly Figure 3.
As best seen in Figure 2, the head B is obliquely disposed to and upon the bracket 6, and the ovals or rings i, 8, as well as also preferably the ring or oval-connecting rods Ill-it, are provided upon their upper face with registering sets of notches or kerfs H, as shown, for edgewise receiving the marginal portions of cards or the like C. The notches l I are so angularly disposed to the oblique plane of the head B and the rings or ovals l, 8, are so spaced that the several cards C will thus, as shown, be compactly and attractively presented to the vision of interested parties.
The stand or rack may be cheaply manufactured and fulfills in every respect the objects stated, and it is to be understood that changes in the form, construction, arrangement, and combination of the several parts of the rack or stand may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the nature and principle of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,--
l. A mass-card rack including a standard and a display-head mounted on the standard, the head comprising a pair of spaced members one surrounding the other and both obliquely disposed to the standard and provided with a plurality of parallel pairs of axially aligned slots for edgewise gripping a plurality of cards for ready individual vision.
2. A mass-card rack including a standard and a display-head mounted on the standard, the
head comprising a pair of concentric members both obliquely disposed to the standard and. provided with a plurality of parallel pairs of axially aligned slots for edgewise supporting a plurality of cards for ready individual vision.
3. A mass-card rack including a standard and a display-head mounted on the standard, the head comprising a pair of concentric members both obliquely disposed to the standard and cooperably equipped with non-radial notches for supporting a plurality of cards edgewise for ready individual vision,
4. A mass-card rack comprising an adjustable standard, a U-shaped member mounted centrally of its body portion upon the upper end of the standard, a first annular member mounted at diametrally opposed points upon the upper ends of the U-shaped member and extending in a plane oblique to the plane of the U-shaped member, and a second annular member mounted concentrically around the first annular member, said annular members being constructed for supporting a plurality of cards for ready individual vision.
5. A mass-card rack comprising an adjustable standard, a U-shaped member mounted centrally of its body portion upon the upper end of the standard, a first annular member mounted at diametrically opposed points upon the upper ends of the U-shaped member and extending in a plane oblique to the plane of the U-shaped member, and a second annular member mounted concentrically around the first annular member, said annular members being provided with a plurality of parallel pairs of axially aligned slots for edgewise supporting a plurality of mass-cards in substantially parallel spaced planes.
