As clearly shown in Fig. 1, Il). The angled portion I0 is disposed in the a main drain pipe 32 extends from a source (not bowl 4 at approximately a 45 degree angle with shown) into the compartment 28. The horizon- 55 tal portion 8 of the sitz bath is recessed to receive a centrally disposed nipple 34 in communication with the main drain pipe 32 by drain conduits 36 and 38 coupled together by the T-tting 40. Regulation of the drain outlet for the sitz bath compartment i8 is controlled by a drain valve 42 extending upward from the T-tting 40, with the top portion 43 supported above the apron 24. The bath tub compartment 4 is provided with a drain nipple 44 in communication with the main drain pipe'32 by a pipe or conduit 46 coupled thereto by the T-tting 48. Regulation of the bath tub drain 44 is controlled by a drain valve 50 disposed adjacent the valve 42 and constructed in a similar manner.
The hot and cold water faucets 52 and 54, respectively, are mounted in the apron 24 and are in communication with a source of water supply (not shown) by the conduits 56 and 58, respectively, housed in the compartment 28. A twoway valve v60 adjacent one of the faucets is likewise mounted in the apron 24. The valve 60 is in communication with the nipple 34 of the sitz bath by a conduit 62. A conduit 64 connects the valve 60 with an inlet 66 for the bath tub compartment 4. The valve 50 is in communication with the water faucets 52 and 54 by the conduits 68 and l0, respectively. It will be obvious that manipulation of the handle l2 of the valve 60 will allow the flow of water either into the sitz bath compartment I8 or the bath tub 4, as may be desired. Conventional overflow drains (not shown) for both the sitz bath and tub may be provided. The outer wall 26 may have a door (not shown) in order to allow for access to the ttings within the compartment 28.
From the foregoing, it will be apparent that a bath tub is constructed with a sitz bath disposed therein in such a manner to provide for suiiicient room for a comfortable plunge bath without any exaggerated constructed of the bath tub so that it could not be readily installed in a modern bathroom; "Furthermore, the combined bath tub and sitz bath not only provides for a plunge bath, but has an easily accessible sitz bath allowing separate bathing of the lower abdominal portions of the body so that any detrimental overiiow of the sitz bath due to the displacement of .the water in the sitz bath will be taken care of by the bath tub.
It is believed that the construction, arrangement of parts, and the operation of the valve will be clear to those skilled in the art and it is obvious that changes may be made in the details disclosed without departing from the spirit of the invention as expressed in the claims.
