This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in glass cutting tables or boards and more particularly to a board which can be more conveniently used than the horizontal type now in general use.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a glass cutting board adapted to be mounted in a substantially vertical position or at a sharp incline whereby the glass can be cut more readily and accurately.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a glass cutting board which will occupy but a very limited space due to the fact that it is adapted for disposition in a substantially vertical position.
Still another important object of the invention is to provide a glass cutting board which can be mounted on the Wall of a store or elsewhere Where it can be used and where it will be out of the way.
These and other various important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader from the following specification:

Figure 1 represents a front elevational View of the board.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary end elevational View of the board.
Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary horizontal sectional view taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the board consists of the frame made up of the bottom member 5, the upwardly tapering side members 6-6 and the upper and lower connecting members 'I-8 between the side members 6 6.
Numeral 9 denotes the glass carrying board which is backed by the lower connecting meniber Ill between the side member 6 and the intermediate connecting member II, as well as by the upper connecting member 1.
The lower portion of this board is provided with the outstanding ledge I2 upon which the glass to be cut can be set and in front of this board is positioned the glass holder generally referred to by numeral I3. (See Figure 1.)
This holder I3 consists of the elongated member I4 having a pintle I5 at its upper end for disposition into the bearing I6 and pintle I1 at its lower end for engagement into the bearing I8 on the lower portion of the board 9.
This member I4 may be of some resilient material is desired and has the rounded side portion I9 which can be cammed against the glass pane 20 by gripping the handle 2l and swinging 60 the member I4.
'Ihe gauge strip 22 forms a part of the ledge I2 for facilitating in cutting a panel of glass to selected measurements.
The straight edge is denoted by numeral 23, the same being hingedly connected at its upper and lower ends as at 24 to the adjacent end of the board 9. This straight edge 23 has its. guide edge slightly spaced outwardly from the adjacent end of the panel 9 and is capable of being swung backwardly, so that when the glass has been scored, the handle 24 can be gripped and pressure exerted on the straight edge 23 and against the glass so that the glass can be snapped off along the scored line in a convenient manner.-
As can be seen in Figure 4, a stop 25 is suitably secured by attaching means 26 to the side member 6 to act as a stop for the straight edge and breaker 23.
It is to be understood that the elongated member 23 not only serves as a straight edge for the glass cutter but also as a breaker, for by swinging this member 23 rearwardly the glass can be snapped off along the scored line with a minimum amount of exertion on the part of the operator.
Obviously the straight edge and stop 25 can be mounted at either end of the board 9.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention what is claimed as new is:-
A 'glass cutting board comprising a vertically arranged supporting frame including upper and lower longitudinal members connected by vertical members tapering towards the upper ends thereof to provide inclined supporting edges, a glass backing board resting on and secured to said edges of the frame to assume an inclined position to the perpendicular, a glass supporting strip secured to the lower portion of the board and extending longitudinally thereof, an elongated cushion cam shaped member journaled on the board to overlie a panel of glass resting against said supporting strip and on the board and coacting with the strip in releasably securing the glass panel against the board, a straight edge strip hinged on the board at one of the vertical edges thereof to overlie the glass panel for guiding a cutting tool thereover, and may be swung in a direction towards and past said vertical edge of the board to break theglass where scored by the cutting tool, and a stop secured on the frame for limiting the swinging movement of the straight edge strip past said vertical edge of the board.
