1 Claim. This invention relates to improvements in curtain supporting means and more particularly 15 in addition thereto Another notable feature of the present invention is that it provides a structure of the type 20 before indicated which is simple, not readily broken or put in disrepair, and which can be easily and economically manufactured.
The invention will be fully and comprehensively understood from a consideration of the fol- 25 lowing detailed description when read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms part of the application.
In the drawing: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment 30 of the matter of the present invention with a portion of acurtain support shown in position. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bracket prepared in accordance with the present invention; and Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the formed bracket,
and
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the blank from which the bracket is formed. Referring to the drawing,
material, preferably metal or the like, into substantially the outline indicated in Fig. 4. This can be effected by stamping, cutting or other means as desired, the thickness of stock to be used being largely determined by the strength of the material and the weight of the objects to be supported.
Referring to Fig. 4, the portion of the cut-out member generally designated at 5 is bent along the dotted line indicated at 6 so that it is disposed substantially at right angles to the re mainder of the object. This portion 5 serves as a mounting or base of the bracket and is pierced by the openings 7 and 3 which are adapted to receive screws for mounting the bracket upon the wall or window frame. The lugs generally designated at 8 are bent along the dotted lines indicated at 9 and turned back against the body of the bracket H] with the portions ll bent up right and disposed substantially at right angles 5 to said body Ill substantially as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The other end of the major portion of the bracket generally designated as H] is rolled back upon itself to form a substantially cylindrical member generally designated as I2. 10 In use, the portion of the bracket generally designated at 5 is attached to the window frame or Wall structure by screws or like fastening means, and a curtain supporting means generally designated as 39 is positioned over the extended lugs, generally designated as H, of the bracket member. A plurality of these members being used in conjunction, it will be apparent that the curtain supporting means 30 will relatively fixedly position the curtains attached thereto. The bracket arm 3| which is bent to resemble an L- this pivotal axis, accordingly, the drapes sup- It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that variations can be made in the design of the bracket arm prepared in accordance with the present invention to adapt it to use with other types of curtain supporting means than the fiat hollow extensible members described herein in like, adapted to engage with other types'of curtain supporting means. It is also evident that 40 without departing from the spirit of the present invention other means can be provided for mounting the bracket arm generally designated as 3| in a rotatable manner upon the bracket proper. For example, a pin could be fixedly positioned in the bracket proper and the bracket then could comprise a bossed substantially leverlike arm engageable with said pin and rotatable thereon.
It is to be understood that this improvement is capable of extended application and is not confined to the exact showing of the drawings nor to the precise construction described and, therefore, such changes and modifications may be made therein as do not affect the spirit of 2 b 2,138,507 v the invention nor exceed the scope thereof as member and having portions thereof cut andbent expressed in the appended claim. whereby the bent portions are disposed in a com- What is claimed as new is: mon plane, said out and bent portions present- A combination bracket for supporting a set of ing projecting elements disposed in a plane subwindow curtains and drapes disposed adjacent stantially perpendicular to the plane of said 5 thereto, said bracket comprising a plate-like member and adapted to engagement with curtain member having lugs formed from the substance of supporting means, and means at one end of the said member and integral therewith and located bracket adapted to receive a support for drapes.
at an intermediate point on said member, said 10 lugs being bent back against the side of said IMMACOLATA PISCIOTTA. 10
