This invention relates to improvements in packages, and more especially to a novel package for medicinal applicators and the like.

The improved packageis made up of sheets of waxed paper or the like, suitably folded and provided with spaced apertures to receive the applicator sticks, and the sticks and waxed paper sheets are enclosed within a cardboard cover or the like.

The package is especially useful in connection with medicinal preparations, and the main reason for using waxed paper or the like is to protect the medicinal tips from moisture and to keep said tips in a sanitary condition.

In this package, the applicators are held in' spaced relation and are conveniently positioned so that they may be withdrawn from the package one at a time.

The invention will now be described in detail in connection with the accompanying drawing,

Referring the drawing, the liner consists of a number of sheets of waxed paper or the like folded in a particular manner. A lower or inner sheet has one end terminating adjacent the fold line it. This sheet extends downwardly from this end and is first folded along the line 6 to provide an imperforate bottom against which the medicinal tips l of the applicators 8 rest. From the fold line it the sheet extends upwardly to the second fold line it where it is provided with spaced apertures ll to receive the sticks of the applicators.

From the fold line it the sheet extends downwardly and again is folded along the line ii to provide an additional bottom against which the tips of the applicators rest. Then from the fold line it, where the sheet was folded the third time,

the sheet is extended upwardly until its second end terminates adjacent to the fold line it. In

this way the tips of the applicators are housed in a pocket with a double thickness of waxed paper or the like.

A pair of outer liner sheets Mi of waxed paper of the like are folded along the line [22 into inverted U-shape, as shown in Fig. i, and spaced apertures it are provided at the fold line if to receive the sticks of the applicators.

Such folded liner sheets and the applicators which-they hold, are preferably housed within a cover E5 of cardboard or the like, and the cover includes a back it and a front ll integrally connected along a fold line it.

After the, liner sheets, applicators and cover have been assembled in the manner shown in the drawing, staples B are inserted through the front and back of the cover, as well as through the side edges of the waxed paper sheets, and such staples 10 firmly hold the parts together.

It will be noted. that the front and back of the cover are of less height than the sticks, and this brings the edges 259 of the covers below the upper ends of the applicator sticks, so that those sticks may be withdrawn one at a time from the pack age.

While I have disclosed what I now consider to be a preferred embodiment of the invention in such manner that the same may be readily under- 20 stood by those skilled in the art, it is apparent that changes may be made in the details disclosed, without departing from the spirit of the invention, as expressed in the claims.

What is claimed and desired to be secured by 25 Letters Patent is:

1. A package of the class described, comprising a liner sheet of moisture-proof fabric folded along parallel lines and forming a pocket having smooth inner surfaces and plural thickness walls, said 30 pocket having spaced apertures at one of said fold lines and being imperforate at the other fold line, medicinal applicators having sticks extending through said apertures provided with medicinal tips abutting against the pocket at the last-mentioned fold line, a jacket positioned exteriorly of the liner and having a fold line coinciding with the last-mentioned fold line to provide a front and back, an upper edge of the jacket terminating below the upper ends of the sticks to allow the applicators to be withdrawn from the package, and means securing the side edges of the jacket and liner sheet together.

2. A package of the class described, comprising a first liner sheet of moisture-proof fabric folded along parallel lines and forming a pocket having smooth inner surfaces and plural thickness walls, the pocket having spaced apertures along one of the fold lines and being imperforate at the other fold line, medicinal applicators having sticks eX- 50 tending through said apertures and provided with medicinal tips abutting against the pocket at the imperforate fold line, another liner sheet of substantially inverted U-shape forming a skirt, the

7 lower end of the skirt engaging opposite sides 55 of said pocket, the last-mentioned liner sheet having a fold line provided with spaced apertures through which the applicator sticks extend, a jacket positioned exteriorly of the liner sheets and having a fold line coinciding with the imperforate fold line of the first-mentioned liner sheet, an upper edge of the jacket terminating below the upper ends of the sticks to permit the applicators to be withdrawn from the package, and means securing the side edges of the jacket and liner sheets together.

3. A package of the class described, comprising a first liner sheet of Waxed paper folded a number of times along parallel lines and forming a moisture-proof pocket with plural thickness walls, the pocket having spaced apertures at one of said fold lines and being imperforate at the other fold line, medicinal applicators having sticks extending through said apertures and provided with medicinal tips abutting against the pocket at the imperforate fold line, a second liner sheet folded along a line to form a skirt having its lower portions engaging opposite sides of said pocket, the second sheet having apertures at its fold line and the applicator sticks extending through said apertures, a cardboard jacket positioned exteriorly of the liner and having a fold line coinciding with the imperforate fold line of the first liner sheet, and means securing the side edges of the jacket and liner sheets together, an upper edge of the jacket terminating below the upper ends of the sticks to permit the applicators to be withdrawn from the package.

A package of the class described, comprising a pocket formed of folded moisture-proof liner sheets having a bottom imperforate fold line and superposed fold lines arranged above the bottom line and provided with spaced apertures, all inner surfaces of the pocket being smooth medicinal applicators having sticks extending through said apertures and provided with medicinal tips abutting against the imperforate bottom fold line, a cardboard jacket positioned exteriorly of the liner and having a fold line coinciding with said bottom fold line to provide a front and back, an upper edge of the jacket terminating below the upper ends of the sticks to permit the applicators to be withdrawn from the package, and means securing the side edges of the jacket and liner sheets together.
