No. 212,266. Patented Feb. 11,1879.
ATTOR N EY ERS, FMoro-umocmpnsn, wnsmNGron. u. c.
UNITED TATES PATENT Enron,
JOHN RIPLINGER, OF LA FAYETTE, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO JOSHUA J. KEEN, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEM ENT IN STOVE-LININGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 212,266, dated February 11, 1879; application filed April 8, 1878.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN RIPLINGER, of La Fayette, in the county of Tippecanoe, and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Linings; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
My invention consistsin the construction and arrangement of a fire-wall or lining for cookstoves, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is a back view of the lining. Fig 2 is a transverse section of the same through the line a; m, Fig. 1. My improved fire-wall or stove-lining is made in three pieces, A and B B. The part A is the main part, provided along its upper edge with an angular flange, A, and in the upper portion is a longitudinal dovetailed groove, a, extending the entire length of the plate. The lower portion of the plate A is corrugated longitudinally, as shown at b b. The plates B B are made narrower, but of the same height as the plate A, and have flanges B at their upper ends fitting on the flange A. The plates B are formed on the back with dovetailed ribs a and corrugations I) to correspond with the groove and corrugations on the plate A.
The parts are held together by bolts d, passing through holes in the plate A and slots 0 in the plates B, and secured by nuts, as shown.
This stove-1i nin g is adapted to stoves of any size, as it can be extended or diminished, as
poses set forth.
2. The combination of the main plate A, formed with the flange A, groove to, and corrugations b, the plates B, formed with slots 0, flanges B, ribs a, and corrugations b, and the bolts d, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of February, 1878.
JOHN RIPLIN GER.
