(Cl. 229-51) c This invention relates to the class of paper receptacle and has particular reference to the type of container' or paper receptacle employed for holding ice cream, frozen confections and thelike. The ,carton or receptacle of the present infrom a study of the following description takenr in connection with the accompanying drawings whereinzf Figure 1 is an elevationalview of on'e side of the container.

Referring to the drawings byreference numerals it will be seen that the container is of elongated form, substantially rectangular in cross section. In accordance with the present invention the container comprises four elongated sides or walls I, 2, 3 and 4. Walls I and t at their meeting edges are joined through the medium cof a longitudinal ilapsi provided on the longitudinal edge gf the wall I and adhesively secured to the inner surface of th wall Il. f The lowerportions of walls. 2 and L converge and the lower portions of walls i and 3 are folded onlines 6, 1, inwardly between the lower portions of wallsv I and II and the lower portions of the walls I, Z, 3 and 4 are held in their nal position by being adhesively united adjacent 'their lower edge portions as at 8. It will thus be seen that the lower portions of the wallsform a tapered handle forthe container and yalso provide a closed bottom for the container. $5 Walls 2 and 4 at their upper-end edges are provided with integral closure flaps 9 that are foldable inwardly one upon the other, while walls I and 3 are provided respectivelyI withv flaps I0, II, respectively which are foldable one upon the other and upon the folded aps 9. y 5 Flap I'I is provided with a tongue I2 to engage a slit I3 provided in the flap I0 forsecuring al1 the aps 9, I0 and II in folded position for sealing or closing the top or upper end of the container. 10
To facilitate removal of portions or sections of 'the container, successively, and as the ice cream or frozen confection contained therein is consumed, the walls I to 4 inclusive together with "ap 5 are' transversed at vertically spaced points l5- in their length by scorelines M, while one of thewalls, for example the wall 2 is provided with'diagonal score lines I5 arranged lin alternation to the Vscore line M.
Further, in accordance with the present in- 20 vention at the fold line between two integral walls, in the present instance wallsJZ and 3, the blank is scored on short score lines i6 that merge with the score lines I5.
It will thus be seen that when it is desired 25 to remove, for example the portion of the container above the uppermost score line idthe container is rst torn along the uppermost vertical score line i6, and then by tearing along the uppermost diagonal score line I5 and the upper- 30 most horizontal score line M the portions of thewalls i to i inclusive and the flap 5 above the uppermost score line id are removed.
. It will thusbe seen that in a similar manner each successive section or portion of the con- 35 tainer may be removed by tearing first along a score line I6, then along a diagonal line i5 and finally along a horizontal score line' It. l
In actual practice, and as shown in Figure 7,
the container is formed from a single blank of 40 strong, comparatively sti paper suitably treated, and cut to the blank form suggested in Figure 6. The walls I to 4 inclusive and ap 5 are formed by folding the blank on longitudinal, parallel, fold lines I'I, while .the lower portions of the walls i V15 to 4 inclusive, and ap 5, lare bendable on a horizontal fold line I8, and the aps'ii, I and Ii are bendable on the horizontal or transverse fold line I9. ` By adhesively uniting the lower portions of the walls I to Il inclusive for sealing the lower end of the container the use of a flap'such as provided in the container forming the subject matter of our co-pending, and. hereinbefore referred to application for patent for providing aclosed bottom for the container is dispensed with.
Also by, in accordanceywith the present inven-` or part of the frozen confection that mightcther- Wise accumulate therein and be more or less inaccessible except by a complete -destruction of the lowermost portion of the container.
It is'thought that a clear understanding of the construction, utility and advantages of a conl tainer of this character will be had without a more detailed description.
Having thus described our invention, what is claimed as new isz- 1.,A container ofthe class described formed of destructible material having side wallsclosed at the bottom thereof, horizontal score lines extending transversely of the walls at vertically spaced points thereon, and diagonal score lines arranged on one of said walls in alternation to said horizontal score lines and respectively extending from one score line to terminate at one edge of said wall at a point midway between two axh'acent horizontal score lines and vertical score lines connectingr the diagonal score lines with the horizontal score lines to provide an uninterrupted score line extending throughout said wall.

A container of the class described formed of destructible material having side walls closed at the bottom thereof, horizontal score lines extending transversely of the walls at vertically spacedpoints thereon, and diagonal score lines arranged on one of said walls in alternation to said horizontal score lines and respectively extending from one score line to terminate at one edge of said Wall at a point midway between two adjacent horizontal score lines, and vertical score lines at the line of fold between said one wall and a second integral wall of the container and terminating at the upper ends of the diagonal score lines to facilitate initial tearing incidental to a removal of a portion or section of the container, said horizontal, diagonal and vertical score lines being uninterrupted throughout said wall.
