UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID BROOKS, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN lNSULATlNG INDUCTION-SOILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 210,987, dated December 17, 1878; application filed October 25, 1878.
To all 107mm it may concern.-
Be itknown that I, DAVID BROOKS, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Insulating Induction-(Joils &c., of which the following is a specification The object of myinvention is to thoroughly insulate induction-coils or bobbins of wire of electrical instruments and protect them from the influence of the damp atmosphere. This object I attain in the manner which I will now proceed to describe, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, the figure in which il lustrates a method of carrying my invention into effect.
In the drawing, A is an ordinary induction coil or coils, or bobbins of wire, w' it their positive and negative poles (a a, and B is avessel of any suitable shape or size, containing an insulating-liquid, preferably paraffine-oil. I immerse the bobbins or coils, as shown in the drawing, and the coils, being kept thus immersed in the liquid, are protected from the influence of the damp atmosphere.
I claim as my invention- The within-described method of insulating induction-coils or bobbins of wire of electrical instruments-that is to say, by immersing said bobbins or coils in a liquid insulating substance, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DAVID BROOKS.
