" f UNifrso 'sTATEs PATENT orifice invention appertains to new and useful I improvements in outlets for electricity and more particularly to a small compact cabinet for electrical sadirons.
5 The principal object ofthe present invention is to provide an iron cabinet wherein an electrical socket is provided which can be used-for Y supplying energy to any applianceincluding or aside from theiron housed by the cabinet.
4uit? Another important object of the invention -is to provide an iron cabinety in which a conductor reel is provided on which the conductor cord of the iron can be wound. These and various other important objects and ent to the reader of the-following specification. In the drawings:- Figure 1 represents a front' elevational, view of the cabinet -with the closure in closed position.
Figure 2 'represents' a frontelevational view of lthecabin'et` with the closure in open position.
' Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view, on the line 3-3"oi Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary horizontal sectional view on the line l-I of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is an inside elevational view of the selector rings of the electrical connector. 1 Figure 6 isa side elevational view of the spool end with the contact brushes thereon for engagement with the rings shown in Figure 5., l y,
Figure 'l represents a front elevational view of amodified form of cabinet in which the `socket -is on the outside of the door.
' Figure 8 is a front elevational view of the cabinet shown in Figure 'I showing the connector supported on the internal partition of the cabinet.
. als refer to like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 generally refers tothe cabinet which consists of the back wall 6, top wall 1, bottom wall 0 and side walls 9-19.
supported within the caiinet s is the supplethe vertical partition Il at the lower portion' of the cabinet and to define the reel compartment i5 in' which are located the uprights iB -Il in whichthe ends of the shaft I8 are disposed, the end of the shaft disposed to the upright I6 being advantages of the invention will become apparusual socket 31 for receiving the connectorplug Referring to the drawings wherein like minier 6 and this back wall i0 is provided with afor- 4 i" claim. ici. ca -142) squared as at i9. The spool 20 having the end circumferential anges 2I-22 is rotatable on the shaft i8 and a coiled ycompresslble spring 23 is convoluted on the shaft il and has one end engaged with the spool V2li and the other end with 5 the shaft. Numeral 24 represents the iron cord which is wound on the spool 20 by the spring 23 and extends through the opening 25. in the partition I4 to connect to the iron plug 25. which plug is supported on vthel outside of the partition lo' i4 by spring clips 21. As shown in Figure 4 the upright I'I has the `plate 2l of insulation' secured thereto and on- !the side of the plate 2l opposed to the spool. flange 2i are the conductor rings 29-30 through which the conductors of the cord 24' oi' the electrical supply cable are connected. As is shown in Figure 6, the spool ange 2l is provided with the contact brushes 3 |-32 there-V on for eugagerxientv with the rings 29-30, respecv tively, and to the brushes II-IZ are connected the ends oi' the cord 24. -v v The portion il of the supplemental back wall il (see Figure 3) is provided with a V-shaped t trough I3 for receiving the usual V-shaped rest 25 34 of the electric iron l5. while a pair of4 spring detents 38-36 on the upper portion of the'partitionv I0 serve to hold the nose portion of the iron. The iron is of conventional. design andhas the' The vertical edge portions of the outer parts of the side walls S-S as well as the bottoni wall 8 are provided with a guide trough 38 for the flexible closure 39 which can be slid upwardly and rearwardly'between the back wall B and supplemental wall l0, that is, in thel space 40.
A modified form of the invention is shown inV Figures 7 and 8 wherein the cabinet 4I is provided with a hinged closure 4 2 on which the electric socket is located. It will be observed in Figure 2 that. the electrical socket lis located` within the cabinet and on the partition and at this point it is denoted by reference charac- 45 However, in the form ofthe invention shown in Figures I and 8 the socket I3 is located on the outside of the door 42 as it is only necessary to open the door l2 when the connector plug 44 is desired for use in connection with an electric 50 iron or some other electrical appliance, where it will be supported by the spring clips 45-45 on the internal partition "of the cabinet Il. The cord 46' thereof extending throughvfthe opening u in the partition 4s to areei in ine cabinet and as l behind the partition, not shown inthe drawings, while the foregoing speemcation sets forth the invention in specific terms, it il to be understood that numerous changes in the shape. ail annil materials may be resortedto without departinz from the spirit' and. scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter. v 5 I.
What is claimed isz- A cabinet structure eomprisins a box-like ture having anopen front andineluding vmet false .back wail in the box-likt!y and top walls, a structure in spaced relation to the back wall having a forwardly extending portion in relation to the top wall, said false back wall and extensionv denninz in cooperation with the beck and top walls of the box-likestrueture, way. L iiexibleelosur'e slidably across the front of thebox-like structure and into'the f, said guiriewiw,A the lower portion of the said false back wail being dispos'edjorwardiy in the boxlike structure and then downwardly to meet the v bottom'oi the box-like structure and to define a compartment, amnduetor reel'y in the oompart- Y ment, and means'on the last-mentioned portion -ofthe mise back wall adapted to. support an electrical connector having its conductor, .dis-
posed on the said reel.
