IMPROVEMENT lN SPRING WEIGHING-SCALES.
Specification ibrming part of Letters Patent No. 210,493, dated December I), 1878 application iled August 29, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEWIS E. BROWN, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Iniprovementsin Spring-Balance Scales, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 a transverse vertical section.
The invention relates to a household-scale; and consists in a construction and arrangement whereby a cheap and accurate scale is obtained.
A is a pedestal or stand, and B a hollow column, upon the inside of which is a projection, I. 1) is a piston, carrying on its upper end a platform 1 scale-pan, E, and having the spring-balance L connected to its lower end. (3 is a guide for the piston, and being provided with a cap or tlange to rest on the head of the standard 13. lo the upper end of the spring is attached a disk, it, the edges of which rest on the projection I, and through which the piston plays. H is an index-plate, adjustably attached by means of a thumbscrew, G, which passes through the standard B and screws into the guide 0.
