Description

D. PELLEGRINI DENTUR: CLEANING DEVICE Filed March 15, 1936 4nvenlor Ala.
A llomeys r A inane/222% pefyaa lPatented Dec. 21, 1937 mmfrnaa oma nevica 2 Claims., (El. 15a-104) This invention relates to new and useful improvements in means for cleaning dentures.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a denture cleaning' device in the form of a receptacle in which dentures can be placed and thoroughly cleaned and polished by shaking the container so that cleaning agents located in cleaning agents without likelihood of breaking the denture. y
Still another important object of the invention is to provide a denture cleaning` device which will v be of neat appearance and which is preferably opaque so that the denture cannot be seen therein v thus permitting the receptacle to be employed as a storage chamber when the denture is not in use.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the device showing the same closed and further showing in broken lines how the device is held lbetween the fingers of a hand while being shakenl Figure'2 is a top plan View of the device with the cover removed.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional vview taken substantially on line 3 3 of Figure 2 ywith the cover applied. A
Referring to the drawing wherein like numei-als designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 generally refers to the receptacle proper and the configuration of this receptacle is preferably such as will conform as much as practical with the shape of the denture. In other words it'is preferable that one side portion of the vertical wail as denoted by numeral 6 be flat while the remaining portion 1 is approximately semi-circular. The receptacle is providedwith the bottom wall 8 and has the cover 9 of the slip type. The top portion of the cap 9 is provided with a resilient liner l0, but the depending perimetricai flange Il does not have a liner, but snugly fits the outside of the receptacle as shown in Figure 3. l 1
The entire inside of the receptacle .proper 5 has the resilient liner I2 at its upper edge extending to the top edge ofthe receptacle 6 so as to meet the'liner Iliof the cap-.1.
Iil'he form of the invention shown in the draw ing is to accommodate both upper and lower ar- -tificial teeth and to separate these two pieces of denture from each other, a spa/cer generally referred to by numeral it is'employed.
I'his spacer consists of the plate it .which generally conforms to the curvature of the side wall oi the receptacle, and around the edges and top and bottom sides of this plate i4 is the resilient Jacket le.
It will be observed that this spacer I3 is provided with a central opening, which can be circular so that the small metallic pellets I6 can readily jar back and forth through the spacer to reach both sets of denture, when the receptacle is 1 lbeing agitated for the purpose of cleaning the denture. i
In the receptacle can be placed a' suitable cleaning iiuid or antiseptic as seen lit.
The liners I0 and I2 serve to absorb the shock of the denture pieces while the same are in motion as does the resilient jacket I5 on the spacer plate I4.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specic terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, sizeand materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimedas new is:
1. A denture cleaning device comprising a re ceptacle in which pieces of denture can be placed. a closure for the receptacle and a multiplicity of small pellets in the receptacle for abrasive contact with pieces of denture in the receptacle when said receptacle is agitated, and a spacing member freely positioned in the receptacle for spacing pieces of denture in the receptacle, said spacing member having an opening to permit passage of the pellets to opposite sides thereof.
2. A denture cleaning device comprising a receptacle in which pieces of denture can be placed, a closure for the receptacle and a multiplicity of small pellets in the receptacle for abrasive contact'with pieces of denture in the receptacle when said receptacle is agitated, a perforated spacer freely positionedin the receptacle for spacing pieces of denture inthe receptacle, and a resilient jacket for the said spacer.
