application September 16, 1932, Serial No. 633,500
2- Claims. (Cl. 230-128) I Y My invention relates to a new and useful imfecting the air passed therethrough. By having provement in a .Warm air circulating device this layer 38 in a moist condition it assists the adapted for use primarily on warm air heating element 31 considerably in removing solid parsystems and has for its object, the provision of a ticles and lint from the air passed therethrough. 5 device wherein the circulating of air maybe With this apparatus mounted in the inlet 5 eihciently carried on. This clip 39 carries the In 'ordinary p heating installations this motorv portion iii which lies in engagement with the may, if desired, be controlled by a suitable ther- 50 layer 3U whichv is provided with the teeth di mostatic switch which has'not been illustratedas punchedtherefrom adapted topenetrate the layer the formation forms no part of the present in- 3tl and project into the lter element 31. When venti'on and is of a construction which is well the layer 33 is saturated with a suitable antiknown. The inwardly turned portions 5I and 56 septic it serves as a gerrnicidal agent for disin 5l' and 53 and 6l serve as supports for baffling 55 and 10 having the ends doubled upon themselves to provide channels 1| and 'l2 which may slip over the inwardly turned portions 5| and 5|' as shown in Fig. 3. Positioned between these plates 69 and inclined to the vertical 'are the baille plates 13 which rest upon the supporting members -14 and 'I5 and are provided with the flange 16. As shown in Fig. 3 these baule plates taper toward their inward ends and the purpose of this arrangement is that the air drawn into the housing by the blower or fan may be equalized for the various inlet openings. Experience has shown that unless the baiile plates are arranged, mounted, and constructed in this manner, a greater volume of air will be drawn inwardly of the housing from, one side than from the other. But, since the area of these sides is substantially the same and since it is desirable that all of the fllter elements be called upon to function while the blower is operating, it is quite important that uniform distribution of air entry at the various opening sides of the housing be effected. To this end the arrangement and formation of the bailles is especially directed. 1
The plates 56' and 48 are secured together by suitable bolts |64 as are likewise the crossing plates at the opposite corners. It is believed obvious from the description given that the device may be shipped in a knocked down condition and the various parts readily and quickly assembled into the position. In operation when the' blower or fan construction is mounted, the device will function in the usual manner as a natural draft system when the fan is not operated.
The simplicity of the device is believed evident from the description given and it affords a comelements embodying opposltely disposed walls 69 pact structure in which the various round cold air ducts, and round warm air pipes in a warm air heating system may be eliminated.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of my invention vI do not wish to limit myself to the precise details of structure shown but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as may come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, a blower or fan housing comprising corner supporting members; inwardly projecting anges on each of said supporting members; a pair of side walls: a baille plate carried by and positioned between said side walls; and a channel carried by each of said side walls slidable over said flanges for retaining said baiiie plates projecting inwardly from one of -said openings.
2. In a device of the class described a housing having plurality of inlet openings on diierent sides thereof, .an upstanding inwardly directed.
ange at opposite sides of each of said openings; a baiile construction comprising a pair of oppositely disposed walls spaced apart and' converging relatively to each other, the ends of said Walls at the divergent ends being doubled upon themselves and embrace the ilanges at opposite sides of an opening; a plurality of spaced supporting bars on the inner surface of each of said walls inclined to the horizontal, corresponding bars on opposite 'walls being in alignment; and a baille plate positioned on each pair of corresponding bars. y
