This invention relates to improvements in toilet articles and more particularly to improvements in rbrushes adapted for toilet purposes. i

An object of theinvention is lto provide a toilet article of such construction as to serve as a repository for various toilet utensils.

Another object of the invention is to provide a brush so constructed that the back thereof serves as a receptacle `for various toilet utensils.

Another object oi the invention'is to provide a brush of such construction as to have a hollow back Within which are compartments for the reception of the portions of a razor, -ashaving brush, etc.

A further object of the invention is to provide a brush of such construction that the back thereof is hollow for the reception of toilet articles, together with a cover, the undersideof which has secured thereto a mirror.

A still further object ofthe invention is to provide a brush having a hollow back and being provided with a tray recessed for the reception of toilet articles and having a slideway between the bottom of the brush and the tray for the reception of a comb or other similar article.

In carrying out the foregoing and other objects of the invention, a toilet article in the form of a brush is so constructed that the back of the brush is of substantially hollow construction. This back is provided with a tray which is recessed to receive various toilet articles, such as the parts of a razor, a shaving brush and a tube of shaving cream. Suitable clips are provided in the walls of the recesses for holding these articles in place, and the tray is spaced from the bristle carrying bottom of the brush so that a slideway can be provided between these respective members. This slideway serves as a receptacle for a comb or other similarly shaped article. An ejector is mounted for limited movement longitudinally of the slideway so that the comb or other article can be ejected from the casing sufliciently to permit it to be grasped by the user. The removable top for this hollowed out back member has a mirror secured to the underside thereof to be used in the usual fashion.

Other features, objects and advantages of the invention will become appa-rent by reference to the following detailed description of the accompanying figures of drawing, wherein l Fig. 1 is a perspective View of a device embodying the invention showing a comb partially ejected therefrom.

, Referring now 'to the drawing, I0 indicates generally the back of a brush. This member I9 is made up of a bottom II, side walls I2 and I3 and end walls I4 and I5. The bottom II `has secured theretoin any suitable fashion the customary brisl5 ties I6.

-Secured within the casing formed by the side and end .walls is a sheet metal tray Il in which are formed a number of depressions or recesses i8, I9, 2il,and 2I. These recesses extend down- 20 wardly to within a short distance from the top of the bottom I I. The side wallsof the recesses are provided with pairs of

24, 25, 26 and 2l for respective recesses I8, I9, 20, and 2 I. These clips may be punched from the metal of the tray 25 or may be formed in any desired fashion. While this tray has been described as being formed from sheet metal, it is also contemplated that it can be made from a suitable mol-ded material, such as a phenol condensation product; in which event 30 the spring clips would be positioned in openings in the walls and secured to the tray in some suitable fashion. The clips 24 serve to retain a suitable implement, such as the handle of a razor in the recess I 8. The clips 25 serve to retain another 35 implement, such as a shaving brush in the recess. I9. The clips 26 serve the same purpose for a tube of shaving cream or other desired article for the recess 20. The clips 2l are used to retain a portion of a safety razor in the recess 2|, also eXtra blades.

Located in the space between the bottom of the tray I'I and the top` of the casing bottom II is a slideway made up of side walls 30, a bottom 3l, and a partial top member 32. This slide- 45 way is so dimensioned as to receive a comb 34 or some other suitably shaped article. The bottom 3l of the slideway has a spring'fnger 35 punched therefrom to extend upwardly into the slideway into frictional engagement with the comb or other article. The end I5 of the casing is provided with an opening 36 at one end of the slideway for the introduction and withdrawal of the comb.Y Slots 31 are provided in the ends of the walls 3|] for the reception of a flat ejector 55 v flange.

member 4l) having an upstanding flange 4 I. This member 40 with its ange 4l serves as an ejector for causing partial protrusion of the comb from the casing in the fashion shown in Fig. 1. The operating mechanism for the ejector consists of a bar 42 secured in some suitable fashion to the member 40 and extending longitudinally of the casing outside of one of the Walls 30. Near the end of the bar 42 is fastened an angle plate 44, one portion 45 of which fits closely against the inner surface of the side Wall l2. This side wall I2 has a slot 46 therein for the passage of a pin 41 secured to a thumb slide member 48 and fastened to the portion 45. Movement of the member 48 causes movement of the ejector 4l),

such movement being limited by the length of the slot 46.

The top for the casing consists of a plate of such dimensions as to conform to the external shape of the casing. This plate 50 has depending flanges 5l therearound to fit closely within the confines of the casing. A mirror 52 is Iastened Within the flange extending substantially the entire length of the device With the exception of a small space54 adjacent the end I5 of the casing.

The end I4 of the casing is provided substantially centrally thereof near its top with a nger 55 adapted to fit in an opening in the ange 5I shaped to correspond to this end of the casing. A leaf spring 56 is fastened in some suitable fashion to the end l5 of the casing, such spring having secured thereto a finger 51 adapted to seat in an opening in the other end of the cover A latch release member 58 extends through an opening in the Wall l5 and is secured to the leaf spring 56 so that the nger 51 can be disengaged from its ange opening. By engaging the opening in the flange at one end of the cover with the nger 55 and by engaging the opening in the other end with the spring finger 51, the cover can be securely locked in place. Dlsengagement of the spring finger 55 from its opening of course permits removal of the cover member.

The operation and use of the device Will be apparent from the foregoing wherein it has been pointed out that the article of the invention consists of a casing, the bottom serves as a back for the brush and the interior of which is provided With compartments for the reception of various toilet utensils. The cover, which is removable, has a mirror secured to the underside thereof for use in any desired fashion. The slideway in the casing provides a suitable repository for a comb or otherrsimilar shape article, which article is frictionally retained Within the slideWay and Which can be partially ejected so that it can be manually Withdrawn from the slideway.

It is to be understood that the invention is capable of modification, in view of which any limitations imposed thereupon are to be those set forth in the following claims.

What I claim is:

1. A device of the character described comprising a casing made up of a bottom, a thin metallic shell forming side and end Walls and a tray fixedly secured Within said side walls above said bottom, said tray being formed to provide article receiving compartments, and means associated With the Walls of said compartments for retaining articles therein.

2. A device of the character described comprising a casing made up of a bottom, a thin metallic shell forming side and end Walls and a tray iixedly secured within said side walls above said bottom, said tray being formed to provide article receiving compartments, means associated with the Walls of said compartments for retaining articles therein, and a slideway positioned between the bottom of said tray and said bottom, an end wall of said shell having an opening communicating with said slideway.
