'I'heprincipal lobject of this inventionis to provide a device of this class which is utilized f or the purpose of cooling keg or barrel beer when 5 placed on tap. v
A further object is to provide a device that is simple and direct in operation, and compact and ellicient it its cooling of beer on tap.
A further object is to provide a cooling unit which is suspended in the barrel from its head and which may be easily removed from the barrel when desired.
A further object is to provide means for easily detaching the suspended cooling unit from the barrel.
A further object is to provide means for eiliciently sealing the cooling unit support when installed in a barrel.
A further object is to provide. a plurality of screened beer intakes when the vbeer is being drawn from the barrel.
A still further object is to provide a beer -cooling unit suspended within a barrel and comprising an upper circular tubular member and a lower circular tubular member wherein each circular tubular member is joined by a plurality of vertical tubes.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details ofconstruction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is` claimed, without departing from the spirit of theV invention.
The invention is illustrated in the accompany- Figure 4 is an enlarged detailed view of a unit partly in cross section, showing the means of in,- stalling and sealing a support for the beer cooling unit suspended within the barrel.
Figure 5 is a cross section taken on line A-A. Figure 2.
Figure 6 is an enlarged detailed view partly in cross section'showing a screened beer intake at a central position at the .bottom of the barrel.
(Cl. 22S-40) By referringlto Figure 1 of the drawing it will be seen that there is provided a cooling tank `I suspended underneath a dispensing bar 2,this bar 2 showing a trough 3 on its inner edge and directly beneath that a tap 4 for the purpose of drawing beer or any other fluid desired to be cooled. It will also be seen that the tap 4 is attachedtoa tubey 5 which runs inwardly and downwardly through the cooling tank I and down through a downwardly extended cooling jacket 6. The tube 5 is connected at a point 1 by a coupling 8 to a beer outflow tube 9 upwardly extended from barrel I0.
By referring to Figures 2 and 4 it will be seen that the barrel I is provided with a head I I having a central circular opening into which is fitted a circular ring member I2 provided with an upper outwardly extended flange I3 and a lower inwardly extended seat member I4. Upon this seat Amember I4 there is provided a circular gasket I5.
Upon this circular gasket I5 there is provided al circular plate support member I6 thus installing the unit within the barrel. The cooling unit .within the barrel is supported by this circular plate support member I6 by having attached thereto aA tubular cooling passage-way I 1 and a second tubular cooling passage-way I8. It'will also be seen by referring to Figure 2 that the beer outflow tube 9 is projected upwardly through a central opening of the circular plate support member I6. The tubular cooling passage-way Il connects to an upper tubular ring I9 which has a plurality of vertical tubes 20 attachedthereto and having their lower ends attached to a' tubular ring 2i. It will be seen that the tubular ring I9 and the lower tubular ring 2| are spaced apart by the plurality of vertical tubes 20 and are par-` allel to each other. It will be seen that the lower tubular ring 2| is provided with the tubular channel 22 connecting to a vertical circular jacket 23 which has enclosed a beer outflow tube 9.
In installing the circular plate support member I6 it is first placed upon the circular gasket I5 and then a pressure ring 24 provided with exterior threads is turned down into the central opening of the circular ring member I2 functioning with the threads 25 formed on the inner surface of the circular ring member I2. .In order to turn the pressure ring 24 down rmly upon the circular plate support member I6 there is provided a pair of oppositely disposed circular recesses formed on the upper surface of the pressure ring 24, one of which is shown at a point 26. It is understood that any suitable tool may be used i`n connection with the oppositely disposed circular recesses in order to turn down or remove the pressure ring 24.
By referring to Figures 2 and 6 it will be seen that the lower end 21 of the beer outflow tube 9 is provided with a cap 28 having a plurality of horizontal inlets 29 leading to a screen member 30 guarding lower end 21 cf the beer outflow tube 9.
By referring to Figures 1 and 2 it willibe seen that there is provided a circulating means for the suspended cooling unit within the barrel comprising a pressure tube 3i leading to the cooling tank i at a point 32. It will be understood that any suitable pump may be placed so as to join an end 33 of the pressure tube 3i and an end 34 of the second tubular passage-way i 8.
By referring to Figure 3 it will be seen that there is provided a steel barrel 35 showing the suspended cooling unit positioned in the head 36 of the steel barrel 35. It will be seen that a receiving ring 31 is welded at a point 38 and that the circular plate support member I6 is held in position similarly as shown in Figure 4 where the installation is in a wooden head.
