DOUCHE Filved oct. 20, 193e INVENTOR ATTORNEYS WXTNESS Cil Patented July 2o, 1937 NTED STTES ArtNr 'ortica 2 Claims.
The invention relates to a douche and more especially to a vaginal insuiiiatcr.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a douche of this character, wherein the bulb forms the container for the powder having medicinal properties so that such powder can be injected into the vaginal tract for treatment thereby doing away with a separate container or receptacle, the douche being of novel construction and is readily and easily handled for the working thereof.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a douche of this character, wherein the bulb thereoi` constitutes the container for the medicinal substance and when such bulb is compressed it will inject the powder into the vaginal tract for the treatment of infections and there is no liability of the powder being removed from the tract on the expanding cf the bulb after contraction thereof and also the contents of the bulb can not spill when the douche is not in use.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a douche of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and effective in its operation, strong, durable, readily and easily operated and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure l is a side elevation of the douche constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view thereof showing the same applied.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary enlarged sectional view showing the valved air inlet of the douche.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on the line 4 4 of Figure 3 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 5 is a vertical sectional view through the bulb showing the medicament introduced thereinto.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the douche comprises a tube l0, preferably made from hard rubber although it may be made from metal or any other suitable material, having at its outer (Cl. 12S- 266) end a shield holder Il which is made fast to the tube lil and also is centrally bored and into this b'ore is threaded the nozzle l2 which is also made from hard rubber although it may be made from metal or any other material suitable in the use of the douche.
The tube l0 intermediate its ends has tted therein a cut-off valve i3 having a hand grip Ill so that it can be manually turned for the opening and closing of said valve.
Formed with the tube is an extension l5 providing an air inlet passage i5 and this extension l5 carries a valve cage il1 in which is a floating valve i8 allowing the ingress of air but checking the escapement of air throughthe cage when the douche is being operated.
On the other end of the tube l0 remote from the nozzle l2 is a compressible rubber bulb i9, it having a neck 20 carrying an outwardly flared or truncated conical shaped mouth piece 2 l, which is fitted on and snugly embraces the tube lil when the bulb is attached thereto. When the bulb is detached from the tube i0 the same can be filled through the mouth 2i with medicated powder 22 as within a container 23, the
powder being hand poured within the bulb when detached from the tube. On the filling of the bulb with the powder' 22 or other like substance it is made secure on the tube lil and when the bulb iscompressed the powder will be injected through the nozzle i2, the article being a vaginal douche for the treatment of infections thereto.
The holder l l has fitted therewith a shield 24, which is of soft rubber and is susceptible of removal from the holder, the said shield being adapted to close the mouth of the vaginal tract in the use of the douche.
What is claimed is:
l. A douche of the character described comprising a tube, a shield holder on one end of said tube, a fiexible shield removably fitted with the holder, a nozzle extending from said holder, an extension on said tube, an air inlet valved cage on said extension, and a removable bulb on the other end of the tube and having a flared mouth.
2. A douche of the character described comprising a tube, a shield holder on one endA of said tube, a flexible shield removably fitted with the holder, a nozzle extending from said holder, an extension on said tube, an air inlet valved cage "on said extension, a removable bulb on the other end of the tube and having a iiared mouth,`and a cut-off valve tted in said tube.
