This invention has to do with commodity -packages andA comprehends a novel form of container for the packaging of childrens candies or other commodities or combination of commodities.

Broadly stated, the invention consists of a box for packaging a juvenile commodity or combination of such commodities, particularly childrens candies and one or more marbles in which the box is so constructed and arranged as to display the contents so as to make for a greater appeal to prospective purchasers and thereby 'render the package and its contents more attractive and salable.

As a further feature, the invention provides a package of the indicated character which, in addition to serving as a container for the commodities, is so constructed asto also function in conjunction therewith as a toy or amusement device for a child.

The invention more particularly resides in a package of the type specified, which bears thereon a character, either real or fanciful, with an opening representing a portion of the character 5 and with a marble, spheroidal candy or other commodity arranged within the body of the package, projecting partially through the opening and retained in juxtaposition thereto by the edge of the opening so that the projecting portion may be utilized to turn the commodity with reference to the openings for exposing to view Various portions of the surface thereof.

More specifically, the invention contemplates a package of the character set forth which bears thereon the face of a person, either real or fanciful, or that of an animal or creature, with openings representing the eye openings and with marbles, spheroidal candies, or other commodities arranged in juxtaposition to said openings to simulate the eyes, and which are adapted to be turned by the portion thereof projecting through the opening, so as to assume relatively different positions, lending thereto' varying and amusing effects.

As a still further object, the invention p-rovides a packaged .commodity or combination of commodities, including a box-like body having opposed walls provided with aligned openings and a spheroidal commodity within the body projectingV partially through the aligned openings in the opposed walls so as to retain the commodity in juxtaposition thereto by engagement with the edges of the openings and whereby one of the projecting portions thereof may be utilized to turn the commodity with reference to the openings for obtaining amusing eifects.

The invention, furthermore, aims to provide a commodity package of the character specified, which is comparatively simple, inexpensive to produce and which is of a highly amusing and attractive nature.

With the above enumerated and other objects in view, reference is made to the following specication and accompanying drawing, in which there is set forth, by way of example, several preferred embodiments of the invention, while the appended claims cover variations and modications thereof which fall within the scope of the invention.

Referring by characters of reference to the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive of the drawing, l0 designates a container which may be of any preferred form or character for packaging one or more juvenile commodities or combinations thereof, such as candies and spherical toys. The container IIJ which as shown is of oblong formation and of relatively narrow depth in proportion to its height and Width, is particularly designed for the packaging of candy sticks Il and one or more marbles I2, two marbles being shown in the embodiment illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive.

In addition to serving as a container for the packaging of candies and marbles, the container Il! is so constructed as to function, in conjunction with one or more of the marbles, as a toy or amusement device for a child. For this purpose, the container is provided on the outer face of one of the walls thereof, or, if desired, on the outer faces of opposite walls, with a character, representation or image, either real or fanciful, such as a picture or face i3 and with one or more aligned openings i4 in opposite walls thereof representing a portion of the picture of the face I3, such as an eyeball. The marbles or other commodities used are preferably of the blotch or streak type, that is, they are formed with variegated surfaces or differently colored or shaded peripheral portions to obtain the effects desired by turning the same with reference to the openings in the package.

Obviously, in the form of the invention disclosed in Figs. 1 to 3, the portions ofthe spheroidal commodities projecting from one side of the package may be engaged with a surface and rolled thereover so as to simultaneously cause the turning of the commodities to produce the moving eiTects.

In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawing, the package'or container I5 is provided with a circular opening `H in one Wall Il thereof and in this instance the vspheroidal commodity i8 has a portion thereof projecting through said opening I6, While the opposite Wall I9 of the package or container bears against the portion of the commodity i8 dia- Obviously, in this instance' the commodity I8 is turned with reference to the opening by utilizing the portion which protrudes through the opening.

. What is claimed is:

l. A package for juvenile commodities, comprising a box-like body having opposite Walls formed with aligned openings therein and a spheroidal commodity Within the body having a variegated surface with portions thereof pro- 40 jecting partially through the aligned openings and retained in juxtaposition thereto by the edges of the openings, whereby the portions projecting through one of the openings may be utilized to turn the commodity with reference to the openings, for exposing to View various portions of the surface thereof.

2. A package for juvenile commodities, comprising a box-like body including opposed Walls, the outer face of one of said Walls bearing the representation o a character or image and said Walls having aligned openings therein, the opening in one of said Walls representing a portion of said character or image and a spheroidal commodity arranged within the body, having a variegated surface and cooperating with one of said openings to form a part of the image, said commodity having diametrically opposite portions projecting partially through the openings and retained in juxtaposition thereto by the edges of the openings, whereby the projecting portions may be utilized to turn the commodity with reference to the openings, for exposing to view various portions of the surface thereof to give amusing effects to the image.

3. A package for juvenile commodities, comprising a box-like body including opposed walls,l the outer face of one of said walls bearing a representation of an image, and in one of the walls being formed with an opening, the opening in one of the Walls representing a portion of the image and a spheroidal commodity within the body combining with said opening to form a part of` said image, and having a portion of the periphery thereof projecting partially through said opening and retained in juxtaposition thereto by the edges of the opening whereby said projecting portion may be utilized to turn the commodity with reference to the opening in the package.
