In the manufacture of artificial silk the spinning solution is generally supplied to each spinning point by means of a separate pump. Generally speaking this employment of separate pumps ensures satisfactory uniformity in the conveyance of the spinning solution and consequently a uniform titre. It is here assumed, however, that the pumps are adapted to work well together and that they are supervised during the operations. However, apart from the increased expenses arising from the large number of pumps, there are considerable diiiiculties.
Attempts have been made, therefore, to feed a large number of spinning nozzles from a common pump. In this way the plant is cheapened and supervision is facilitated. The disadvantage arises, however, that the spinning solution, for no accountable reason, issues in non-uniform and varying quantities at the several spinning points.
The subject of the present invention is a new device for producing uniform issuance of the spinning solution from the nozzles. The apparatus is characterized by the fact that the pipe which carries the spinning nozzles (ref. to in the following as a spinning pipe being for the sake of brevity) is fed with the spinning solution at several points by means of one and the same feeding arrangement.
The apparatus consists, for example, of a common feeding device, e. g. a gear-wheel pump, behind which the conduit forks out into a plurality of branch pipes which open into the spinning pipe at definite intervals.
A further constructional form of the apparatus consists in attaching the feeding device to a pipe which is connected with the spinning pipe running parallel thereto by means of a plurality of connecting pipes.
A particularly advantageous constructional form consists in arranging the pipe to which the conveying device is attached in the interior of the spinning pipe, communication with the latter being effected through a number of apertures. In this way the arrangement of special branch pipes is dispensed with.
Practically complete uniformity in the issuing solution can be produced if nozzles of graded cross-section, adapted to the fall in pressure, are provided at the connecting points between the supply pipe and the spinning pipe.
The accompanying drawing shows two constructional forms of the invention by way of example:
Figure 1 is a plan View of one modification of the present invention, the use of branch conduits being shown;
Figure 2 is a further modification in plan view, partly broken away, in which the pipe attached to the spinning pump is disclosed as being withinthe spinning pipe; and
Figure 3 is a side elevational view, partly in cross-section, taken along the line AB of Figure 2.
According to the constructional form shown in Figure 1 the gear wheel pump l for the spinning solution is connected with a pipe 2; the latter pipe is connected by means of the conduits 31, 32, 33, and so forth,to a pipe 4 to which the spinning points l1, l2, l3 and so forth are attached. Retarding nozzles may be inserted in the connecting conduits 3133.
By using these arrangements the quantity of solution issuing from the several spinning nozzles is rendered substantially uniform.
In a second constructional form, shown in Figures 2 and 3, the pipe 2 is situated in the interior of the spinning pipe 4. The pipe 2, which is of considerably smaller diameter than the spinning pipe i, is arranged in the lower part of the said spinning pipe 2 and is provided with a number of bores 8 spaced along the lower side. The spinning pipe 4 is made strong enough for it to serve as a support for the spinning points at the same time. The connecting pipes 5 for the spinning nozzles 6 are attached to the upper side of the spinning pipe 4. A particularly uniform supply of spinning solution to the spinning points is obtained by arranging retarding nozzles 9 in the pipes 3 (Figure 1), in the bores 8 of the pipe 2 (Figure 2) or in the connecting pipes 5 (Figure 3).
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of our said invention and in What manner the same is to be performed, we declare that what we claim is:
1. In a device for supplying spinning solution to a plurality of nozzles, in combination, a pump for forcing the spinning solution to be used, a pipe to which said pump is attached, said pipe attached within a spinning pipe, said pipe having apertures for communicating with said spinning pipe, said spinning pipe supplying a series of spinning units, said units being connected to said spinning pipe by branch pipes.
2. In a device for supplying spinning solution to a plurality of nozzles, in combination, a pump for forcing the spinning solution to be used, a pipe to which said pump is attached, said pipe attached within a spinning pipe, said pipe having apertures for communicating with said spinning pipe, said spinning pipe supplying a series of spinning units, said units being connected to saidspinning pipeby branch pipes, and-devices to retard the flow of the spinning liquid located at the entrance to the spinning units.
a 3. In a device for supplying spinning solution to a plurality of nozzles, in combination, a pump for forcing the spinning solution to be used, a
10 pipe to which said pump is attached, said pipe attached within a spinning pipe, said pipe having apertures forcommunicatingwith said spinning pipe, said spinning pipe supplying a series of spinning units, said units being connected to said 15 spinning pipe by branch-pipes, and devices to retard the flow of the spinning liquid located at the entrance to the spinning units whereby the liquid fed to each spinning unit may be of uniform mixture.
4. In a device for supplying spinning solution to a plurality of nozzles, in combination, a pump said spinning pipe by branch pipes, a device to retard the flow of the spinning liquid locatedat the entrance to the spinning units, the apertures of said retarding devices being varied in size to compensate for the fail in pressure of the spin- "ning solution at the more distant spinning stations from the source of supply.
