- Thisinvention relates to certainnewand useful improvements in .beer foam remover andiad vertisingdevice. g l
A primary object of the invention is to pro- 5 vide a deviceadapted for attachment to. a spigot or faucet for the dispensing of beer and including a blade edge over which the upper end of a glass may be-moved andin-proximity of the spigot or faucet for the removal of excess foam from the beer in the glass and further including an upstanding arm that projects above the counter or shelf that supports the spigot or faucet for the display of an advertising card or the like.
With the above and other objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangements of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing:-
Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevational view of a counter or bar having a valve controlled spigot carried by the rear wall thereof and with the beer foam remover mounted upon the discharge end of the spigot;
Figure 2 is a fragmentary rear elevational view of the counter or bar showing the beer foam remover attached to the spigot and also carrying an upstanding bracket arm for the display of an advertising card "or the like;
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing, the reference character 5 designates a counter or bar having a rear wall 6 through which projects a beer faucet 1 that is valve controlled as at 8.
The beer foam remover comprises a plate 9 of substantially triangular form in plan view as shown in Figure 3 with the tapered sides I I thereof merging into one side of a ring i2 that carries an upstanding sleeve 13 intermediate the inner and outer edges of the ring as shown in Figures 3 and 4 to define a support I 4 at the inner side of the lower end of the sleeve l3. The base edge of the triangular plate 9 is bent at right angles as shown in Figs. 2 and 4 to pro- 50 vide a scraper blade I5 depending from the plate 9. A cylindrical gasket I6 is confined within the sleeve 13 and rests at its lower end on the support H as shown in Fig. 4. The sleeve 13 is placed upon the lower end of the spigot l and is retained thereon by frictional engagement of the gasket l6 with the spigot, the latter projecting below the plane of the-plate 9.
When the valve 8'is opened to fill a glass with beer from the spigot-l, the glass may thereafter be laterally moved to'causethe upper edge of the glass to move over the: lower edge of the scraper blade-.15 forremoving excess foam from the glass of been andsaid foam falls into the usual drain associated with dispensing apparatus of this character. The device is of a highly sanitary character, as it is unnecessary to touch the scraper blade l5 with the hands of the dispenser as contrasted with a usual blade or paddle that is customarily used and said device may be easily removed from the spigot 1 for a cleansing operaion.
An advertising device is associated with the beer foam remover and includes a perpendicular rod I! having an angularly offset lower end l8 that is received in a tubular support l9 rising from the ring I2 at the side thereof opposite the plate 9, the lower end [8 of the rod being bevelled as at 29 where seated in the tubular support l9 and engaged by a removable wedge key 2| for the rigid support of the rod on the ring 12. An advertising card 22 is connected to the upper end of the rod I! that extends above the bar 5 by means of a nut and bolt combination 23 and such card may carry advertising for the particular kind of beer being dispensed. Slight movements of the plate 9 will follow contact of the upper edge of a glass with the scraper blade l5 and such vibrations will be imparted to the relatively long and thin rod IT for attracting attention to the advertising card 22.
From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be understood and while there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim:-
1. In a beer foam remover, the combination with a spigot, of a plate having an opening in one end, a sleeve surrounding the opening and rising from the plate for mounting on the spigot, a scraper blade depending from the other end of the plate, a gasket interposed between the sleeve and spigot and the sleeve being spaced from the edge of the opening to provide a support for the lower end of the gasket.
2. In a beer foam remover, the combination with a spigot, of a plate having an opening in one end, a sleeve surrounding the opening and rising from the plate for mounting on the spigot, a scraper blade depending from the other end of the plate, and a vertically extending rod supported on the plate and being of a length and dimensioned for vibratory movements when the scraper blade is used and an advertising card at the upper end of the rod.
3. In a beer foam remover, the combination with a spigot, of a plate having an opening in one end, a sleeve surrounding the opening and rising from the plate for mounting on the spigot, a scraper blade depending from the other end of the plate, a gasket interposed between the sleeve and spigot and the sleeve being spaced from the edge of the opening to provide a support for the lower end of the gasket, and a vertically extending rod supported on the plate and being of a length and dimensioned for vibratory movements when the scraper blade is used and an advertising card at the upper end of the rod,
4. In a beer foam remover, the combination with a spigot, of a plate having an opening in one end, a sleeve surrounding the opening and rising from the plate for mounting on the spigot, a scraper blade depending from the other end of the plate, a vertically extending rod supported on the plate and being of a length and dimensioned for vibratory movements when the scraper blade is used and an advertising card at the upper end of the rod, the support for the rod including a tubular socket rising from the plate, the lower end of the rod in the socket being tapered and a wedge key in the socket engaged with the tapered end of the rod.
5. In a beer foam remover, the combination with a spigot, of a plate having an opening in one end, a sleeve surrounding the opening and rising from the plate for mounting on the spigot, a scraper blade depending from the other end of the plate, a gasket interposed between the sleeve and spigot and the sleeve being spaced from the edge of the opening to provide a support for the lower end of the gasket, a vertically extending rod supported on the plate and being of a length and dimensioned for vibratory movements when the scraper blade is used and an advertising card at the upper end of the rod, the support for the rod including a tubular socket rising from the plate, the lower end of the rod in the socket being tapered and a wedge key in the socket engaged with the tapered end of the rod.
