The object of the invention is a .device for cleaning and removing dust and dirt from mops and other similar kinds of brooms, by means ofwhich the dust and dirt can be removed immediately after the use thereoi.

device for cleaning and removing dust from mops of simple construction, embodying a minimum number or worldng parts, and attaining the highest degree of reliability in practical use. I With this invention it is possible to carry out with one hand all preparatory movements for shaking out and cleaning the mop, so that the handle of the mop, whilst being held 1 the free hand, need not be laid down, a circ stance which is of special importance in so far as in order to clean one single room only it is necessary to shake out the mop several times.

'lhe device of the invention acts in the following manner:- A A After opening up the divided halves of the lid and pouring a small quantity of water into the container I, the mop [with its handle I in an upward direction is placed upon the plate 3. By means or the rapid up-anddown movement or the handle I the mop is thoroughly cleaned, the particles of dust and dirt thereupon falling into the water at the bottomv I of the container and remaining there. After opening the top parts of the container the mop is taken out and down.
