Description

UNBTED STATE ATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
This invention relates to a novelty of the dancing ligure type and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which will be inexpensive to make and simple to operate and Will readily attract attention and afford amusement.
With these and other objects in View, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation illustrating a novelty constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional View taken on the line 2--2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a rear elevation illustrating the device.
Figure 4 `is a sectional View taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral I indicates a support of panel formation and is provided with pairs of openings 2 and 3. Arranged in front of the panel I is a ligure 4 of any desired design. The ligure 4 includes a body 5, head 5 and hips 'I. The body 5 has the usual shoulders 8. Pairs of plates 9 and IU are secured to the iront face of the panel I and extend over the pairs of openings 2 and 3 and spaced therefrom. Each plate 9 is in the form of a hand, while each plate I0 is in the form of v a foot. The plates 9 and IIJ are nonmovable strips II where extending from the shoulders 8 to the plates 9 represent arms while the strips l2 Where extending from the hips 'I to the plates Ill, represent legs. The hand piece I 3 is arranged at the rear of the panel I.
In operation, the panel is positioned to place the ligure 4 in view to an onlooker and the operator grasps the linger piece I3 and imparts movement thereto which causes the ligure 4 to move over the panel with movements simulating dancing of the ligure. The nger piece I3 may be moved in different directions which will cause the ligure I to move upwardly and down- Wardly and sideways with respect to the panel, giving the observer the impression that the ligure l is dancing, also giving an impression of the shortening and lengthening of the arms and legs during certain movements of the ligure. Thus it Will be seen that a figure novelty of this kind is simple, durable and easy to operate and may be manufactured and sold at a low cost.
Having described the invention, I claim:
l. A novelty comprising a panel having openings, a ligure positioned over one lace of the panel, and including head and body portions, and an operating means actuated from the other face of the panel and extending through the openings and connected to the body portion for supporting the ligure adjacent the panel free to move relative thereto and providing arms and legs for the body portion ol the ligure.
2. A novelty comprising a panel having openings, a figure disposed over one face of the panel, plates secured to said face of the panel and overlying and spaced from the openings and shaped to form feet and hands, and connected strips extending through the openings and secured to the ligure to represent legs and arms between the ligure and the leet and hands and when moved by the connected portions adapted to impart dancing movements to the ligure.
