1 Claim.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in face stays, wrinkle masks and the like.

The utility of providing convenient means, for counteracting the sagging of the facial muscles and tissues, which occurs during the reposal of the wearer, is well recognized.

It, therefore, is an object of this invention to provide a face stay which may be quickly and easily applied to the face of a user.

Other objects to provide a ilexible face stay, which provides a maximum support for the facial muscles and tissues, and permits the maximum circulation of air to the skin, thereby allowing the breathing of the skin While the stay is being Worn.

Another object is to provide a face stay, which may be produced at a relatively low cost, and will readily adapt itself to the various contours of the face.

These and other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of my invention, as applied to a human face;

In the drawing, the numeral l0 indicates the face stay of the preferred form of my invention, preferably made of elastic rubber, although any other suit-able material may be used. The stay l0 is provided with a chin embracing portion Il, adapted to support the chin of the wearer, as shown in Fig. 1. The middle section of the stay I0, adapted to engage the face and chin of the wearer, is provided with a series of interconnecting channels I2, producing a series of raised portions or nodules I3. The channels I2 are provided with series of Ventilating apertures I4, permitting the passage of air to the skin of the wearer. The stay Il) tapers at its two ends, and a buckle I5 is provided at one of the ends, for

adjustably securing the ends together over the head of a wearer, as shown in Fig. 1.

In Figs. 4 and 5, a slightly modified form of the invention is shown. This form corresponds with the preferred form in every detail with the exception of the channels I2a, which extend only transversely of the stay, dening transversely disposed raised portions I3a. Similar series of ventilating apertures I4a are provided in the channels I2a.

In Figs. 6 and 7, another slightly modified form is shown, in which the series of channels IZb are disposed longitudinally only of the stay I0, defining longitudinally extending raised portions I3b. Series of Ventilating apertures |4-b are provided in the channels |212.

It is contemplated that the face stay disclosed herein, may be moulded of flexible rubber and, therefore, can be produced at a relatively low cost. It is not intended, however, to limit the invention to a rubber face stay, as any other suitable materials may be used.

'I'he face stay I0 is applied to the head of a wearer by placing the raised portions against the face, with the chin portion II over the chin, and a then the ends are secured together on the head of the user by means of the buckle I5.

The apertures in the channels permit air to pass to the skin, while the channels permit the ready circulation of the air on the face, which is a very desirable feature, as it is contemplated that my face stay is to be applied to a wearer upon retiring for the evening, to be ordinarily worn until arising in the morning, so that a free circulation of air to the skin is essential to keep the skin in a healthy condition.

A face stay or chin strap of the type disclosed herein stimulates the circulation and lifts and strengthens the muscles of the throat and face and it moulds the face while .permitting the face to breathe. The protuberances or nodules I3 project into and grip the face and throat and therefore eifectively lift these portions, and as the muscles move they are massaged. As the tie straps are drawn taut, the nodules being flrmly pressed against the face and throat, tend to embed themselves and this stimulates circulation.

It will be apparent to those skilled in the art, that the invention disclosed herein may be variously changed, used or modiiied, without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and that the embodiment of my invention, herein disclosed, is illustrative only, and that my invention is not limited thereto.

What is claimed is:

A face stay of the class described, comprising a eXible strip of moulded rubber adapted to be passed under the chin and to extend upwardly therefrom over the cheeks and to be secured over the top of the head of the user, said strip having a concavity adapted to receive and to fit about the chin, nodules of solid elastic rubber spaced across the chin and face engaging portions of the strip,

said nodules serving yto massage the muscles of the chin and face, the spaces between said nodules forming channels, said strip having perforations spaced along said channels to provide air circulation, and means for securing said stay over the top of the head of the user and thereby draw the stay substantially taut and upward.
