LUNCH BOX Filed July 30, 1934 z A l (17 I u Z I, Inventor jYarya reziST 47 a 6587,
Patented Nov. 24, 1936 UNITED STATES PATET OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a lunch box, the general object of the invention being to provide the box with a number of compartments for holding various articles of food and the like, the box being so formed that the articles need not .be wrapped.
Another object of the invention is to make some of the compartments adjustable as desired.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Fig. l is a front View of the box.
Fig. 2 is a top plan View with the lid raised.
In these views, the letter A indicates the box and the letter B the lid, the lid being hinged to the box and being provided with latch means I for holding it in closed position, and the lid is also provided with a handle 2. An angleshaped partition 3 is located in the box to form a rectangular chamber 4 and partitions 5 divide the space left by the partition 3 into three chambers. As shown, each partition 5 can be adjusted as its end edges fit slidably in the grooves 6 formed in portions of the side walls of the box and in parts of the partition 3. Thus, either of the partitions 5 can occupy either one of two positions.
As will be seen, various articles of food or the like can be placed in the chambers or compartments formed by the partitions and the box is so formed that the articles need not be wrapped or placed in pans inasmuch as the partitions 5 can be adjustably placed to tightly confine certain of the articles.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A lunch box comprising a receptacle including a bottom wall and side and end walls rising therefrom, a lid complementary to the receptacle, a pair of partition walls joined permanently to the bottom, said partition walls joined permanently together at one end at a right angle to each other, said partition walls joined at their opposite ends respectively to one side wall and one end wall thereby constituting a chamber of fixed capacity occupying a rectangular portion of the space in one corner of the receptacle, said partition walls and confronting side and end walls of the receptacle formed each with a plurality of pairs of aligned grooves, and bridge walls deta-chably mounted at right angles to each other in aligned pairs of grooves thereby dividing the remaining portion of the space in the receptacleinto angular shaped chambers of variable capacity to conform to the nature of the food being carried.
