4 Claim.

This invention relates to pantie girdles and has for its object to provide an improved garment of this type having all the advantages of a conventional open crotch girdle without its attendant disadvantages chief among which is the tendency of such a girdle to ride up on the figure in the absence of garters. I

A related object of the invention is to provide a pantie girdle which avoids the usual disadvantages of conventional pantie garments, among which disadvantages is the tendency of the legs to creep or roll up to the groin line with resulting discomfort and inconvenience to the wearer.

Still another object of the inventionis to provide a garment of the type described which preserves a smooth unbroken line at the back of the figure and affords a proper foundation for outer garments, which confines the lower regions of the body in'a manner comparable to an efiicient open crotch girdle while affording even more freedom of movement than a conventional pantie garment. and which by effectively combining the dual functions of both pantie and girdle eliminates the necessity for extra underwear.

My improved pantie girdle is composed of formiltting flexible material such as elastic fabric or a suitable inelastic fabric with considerable stretch. The garment comprises a flat back section and a front portion having its lower central edge secured to the back to close the crotch and form legs. In the preferred form of the invention the body portion forming the back section is cut in a single piece of material which extends around to form the sides of the garment, and this piece of material preferably has extensions on its lower edge which are folded over and secured to the back to form legs while the longitudinal edges of said material are connected and the crotch closed by suitable means such as a front panel which completes the garment.

A garment constructed in. this manner has a smooth continuous back which revealsno legs and thus resembles a conventional open crotch step-in girdle. Like'its opencrotch predecessor it'preserves an unbroken back line and thus -pro-' vides a correct foundation for outer garments.

In addition, the legs of an ordinary pantie have a tendency to creepor roll up to the groin line which is avoided by my construction. At the same time 5 the legs, which show only at the front of my pantie girdle, afl'ord as much freedom of movement as an ordinary pantie garment. Hence from the standpoint of utility as well as economy my garment eflectively combines the desirable 10 features of prior art panties and girdles while largely eliminating the drawbacks peculiar to each.

In he form illustrated. section I comprises a light knitted or woven twoway stretch elastic fabric, while front panel 2 is composed of fabric which has a relatively short elastic stretch in a horizontal direction and is inelastic vertically, 5 and crotch piece 3 is composed of the same two-1 way stretch material as the body of the garment. Other suitable fabrics, may. however, be employed if desired.

Otherwise the construction is the same as in Figs. 1 to 10.

The above garments function in the manner described. to confine the body from the region of the waist downwardly and to preserve a smooth unbroken line at the back while; preventing the garment from riding up ,on the figure as happens in the case of ordinary open crotch girdles.

It will thus be seen that my invention combines the-desirable features of 'a pantie and a girdle in a single garment without the disadvantages of replace forthe purpose stated. 1

In the garments shown here for purposes of illustrationrth'e back, side and leg sections are made inlone'piece of material but they may be made in a number of pieces if desired. They may also bemade with various combinations of elastic and inelastic panels for the purpose of controlling the stretch when desirable. The back, for example, may be made of inelastic material and the leg sections made elastic.
