IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-CORD TIGHTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 205,414, dated June 25, 1878; application iiled May 31,1878.
I'o all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, FREDERICK E. POR- TER, of Baltimore, Maryland, and DAVID A. BEATsON, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Gord Tighteners and we hereby declare the same to be fully, clearly, and exactly described as follows, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawings, in which the said device is illustrated in front and side elevation.
This invention relates to that class of devices in use for tightening the cords ofwindow-blinds; and it consists in such a device, constructed as hereinafter described.
In the drawings, A represents a suitable piece of sheet metal having a longitudinal slot, c', and being bent twice at right angles at either end to form tangs a, which are perforated, as shown, for the securing screws or tacks. This portion of the device is conveniently struck up at one operation by means of a die.
A screw, B, extends from end to end of the plate A, being secured after the manner of a rivet at b', but being free to turn. At the opposite end the screw is furnished with a milled head, b. A block, C, appropriately threaded, is mounted upon the screw B, and to it is secured the roller D by means of a screw, c,
passing through a disk, c', and into the block C. The rollerD is adapted to receive the curtain-cord, whose tension may be readily regulated by turning the screw B by means of the milled head b.
As is evident, the device is thoroughly eicient in operation, simple in construction, and trifling in cost.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letfitnesses as to F. E. Porter:
H. W. B. REID, A. H. J EFFERIs.
Titnesses as to David A. Bentson.: J EssE K. FURLONG,
EDw. J. KNIGHT.
