' e. KLENYANS ZKY ET AL REENFORCING DEVICE FOR SCREEN FRAME CORNERS Filed March 21, 1935 .7 5 v .d, w 5 I v E 9 W 7 1 Patented Aug. 25, 1936 PATENT OFFICE REENFORCING DEVICE FOR SCREEN FRAME CORNERS George Klenyanszky and William Klenyansky, Chicago, Ill.
Application March 21, 1935, Serial No. 12,230
1 Claim.
This invention relates to improvements in screen frame corner reenforcements, particularly to those having grooved vertical sides.
The main object of the invention is to provide a novel screen frame corner reenforcement to protect the guides of the vertical members of the screen frame.
Another object of the invention is to provide novel means to reenforce the corners of a screen frame.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device, which permits a smoother operation of the screen frame when it slides in the guides of the window frame.
5 A still further object of the invention is to provide a device, which permits the changing of the screen without disturbing the screen frame.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described, simple in construction, easily assembled, and efficient in carrying out the purpose for which it is designed.
A still further object of the invention is to prevent the falling out of small children.
With the foregoing and other objects in view,- which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
It is to be understood that various changes in the proportion, size, and minor details of the structure may be made without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
For the purpose of facilitating an understanding 'of our invention, we have illustrated in the accompanying drawing preferred embodiments thereof, from an inspection of which, when considered in connection with the following descrip- I 40 tion, our invention, its construction, and its advantages should be readily understood and appreciated.
Referring to the drawing, in which similar characters of reference are employed to indicate 45 corresponding or similar parts throughout the several figures in the drawing,
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a screen frame equipped with our corner reenforcing devices.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional 5 view on line 4-4 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view on line 5-5 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing more specifically, the screen frame corner reenforcement I, is c'om- 10 prised of a horizontal member 2, and a vertical member 3.
The horizontal member 2, has a bottom part 4, and vertical flanges 5-5, all three together forming a U-shape, to fit snugly around the corners of the horizontal members 6-6, of the screen frame 1.
The vertical member 3, has a grooved portion 8, which fits snugly within the grooves 9-9, of the vertical members Ill-l0, of the screen frame 1. The vertical member 3, has flanges H-l l, which fit snugly around the outside flanges l2-I2, of the vertical members Ill-l0,-of the screen frame I.
The vertical flanges 5-5, of the horizontal member 2, and the flanges ll-l l, of the vertical member 3, have a series of holes I4, close to their outer edges l5-l5, to permit the fastening of screen frame corner reenforcements l, by nails IE, to the horizontal members 6-6, and 3 vertical members Ill-l0, of the screen frame 1.
Moulding ll, retains the screen I8 in its place and permits its replacement without interfering with the screen frame I.
We claim:
A metal device for reenforcing screen frames, said device having a U-shaped horizontal portion and a U-shaped vertical portion, these portions embracing the respective horizontal and vertical portions of a screen frame at the corner thereof,
said vertical portion including a grooved part formed like an instruck tongue.
GEORGE KLENYANSZKY. WILLIAM KLENYANSKY.
