The present invention relates to adjustable heel clamps, especially useful in holding high heels during the process of attaching to shoes, and it consists in the constructions, arrangements and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

It is an object of the invention to provide a clamp which is readily adjustable to accommodate heels of various sizes and shapes.

A further important object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of this nature which is simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, thoroughly efiicient and reliable in use, constructed so as to prevent the marring or splitting of the heel during the nailing operation of the heel to the shoe and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

With'the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a tapered shank constructed so as to be receivable in the usual shoemaker jack and having formed on the upper or larger end thereof a head H having a shoe heel receiving pocket formed therein and being constructed with a plain front wall 6 from which extends a substantially horseshoe-shaped wall I. A substantially horseshoe-shaped pad or lining of felt, rubber or the like is denoted by the numeral 8 and is located within the pocket and has its ends extending into grooves 9 formed at the juncture of the horseshoe-shaped wall I and the plain wall 6. The upper edge of the plain wall 6 has a curved recess 6' formed therein so that certain types of high heels shoes may be accommodated. A screw-threaded bolt [5 is threaded through a diagonal opening I6 in the wall 6 so as to incline downwardly and outwardly from the head H. On the inner end of this shank or bolt l5 there is a half-ball-shaped head I! for 5 engaging the front wall of a high heel. This head may be constructed of rubber if so desired.

On the outer or other end of the bolt or shank there is provided a thumb nut-like handle I8.

It is thought that those skilled in this art will readily appreciate that a high heel may be inserted in the pocket and the bolt adjusted to securely hold the heel in place without marrin the heel and permitting its ready attachment to the shoe in the usual well known manner.

It is thought that the construction, operation, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a further detailed description.

Itwill be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.

What is claimed is:

1. A device of the class described including a tapering shank formed on its upper and larger end with a head having a shoe-reciving pocket therein, and a bolt threaded through the head to extend into the pocket, said head including a plain wall and a horseshoe-like wall and the bolt being threaded through the plain wall and disposed at an oblique angle thereto.

2. A device of the class described including a tapering shank formed on its upper and larger end with a head having a shoe-receiving pocket therein, and a bolt threaded through the head to extend into the pocket, said head including a plain wall and a horseshoe-like wall and the bolt being threaded through the plain wall, said bolt being disposed at an oblique angle to said plain wall, a liner in the pocket on the inner face of the horseshoe-shaped-like wall and having its. ends extending into grooves provided at the juncture of the horseshoe-shaped-like wall and the plain wall.
