(01. 197-36) type as present upon this arm and in this manner enabling-onegto adopt the style of symbol or type as may be desired for a writing made by such Another object of the invention is the provision of a clip or mount of this character, wherein the same in its structural .makeup is novel enabling the auxiliary'or supplementary type presenting letters and symbolsto be attached'with dispatch and security to the striking type arms of a typewriter and avoids tlie necessity of any change in such arm 'or' the type permanently carried A further object of the invention-isrthe provision of a clip or mount ofthis c ter, which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable an deifective-in its operation, strong, d u'rable, readily and easily applied toand removedfrom thetype arm of a typewriter and inexpensive to manufacture and install. 3
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in thefeatures of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described; illustrated- Figure 4 is'a sectional view on the line H 'of I I Figure 1 looking in the. direction of the arrows. Figure 5 isaperspective view of the clip or mounth having at its free end-and permanently carried 'thereby; a type B, it being usual that such type embodies several alphabetical letters or symbols which protrude asiscustomary.
The type end In of the arm A is of downwardly 5 tapered form having the curvilinear opposite sides I l and with this end is engaged the clip or mount. constituting the present invention and hereinafter fully described.
clip or mount comprises a strap-like body l0 l2 preferably made from spring steel having inherent resiliency and is cut and bent from a form l3 shown in Figure 6-01 the drawing. The body holding a supplementaryor auxiliaryx be clearly Figure 6 is aplan view of the from which the clip or mount is made.

which not the ordinary well-known construction I2 is folded on .the line It to provide the side portions l5 correspondingly shaped to the sides ll 15 of the end I. One side 15 has an extension constituting a bed wing It provided with letter. and symbol openings or slots l1 and I8, respectively, which in their shape correspond to the letter and symbol l9, permanently formed by the 20 typeB so that such permanent letter orsymbol l9- will fit the openings or slots II and I 8 when the strap body l2 embraces the end In in a 'manner as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 of the drawme. 7 25 The extension bed I6 has .built thereon the side and end cleats 21Land 2|, respectively, while-the other side portion l5 of the body I2 is formed with a cleatr22 companion to the cleat 2 I. These Ycleats 20, 2l and 22- are engaged with an auxiliary type 23, it' having protruded lettering or' symbols as at 24 which may be of variable conformation .or kind from the permanent lettering or symbol formations-on the type B.
.-The auxiliary type 23 has provided therein countersunk shoulders or seats 25 for the cleats- 20', 2| and 22 so that said auxiliary/or supple mentary type 23 will be fixedly heldby the clip when embracing the end lllvof the arm A aswill apparent from Figure 3 of the draw- 40 ing.
The inherent resiliency of the body l2 snugly and/securely embraces the end ID of the arm A while the interfltting of the lettering or symbol protruding from the permanent type B avoids 'any displacement of the clip or mount when in position'upon the arm A.
- The auxiliary type 23 may be of any required style of lettering to suitthe individuals taste or needs and may include a special group of figures or a border design accordingly to the'work to be typed in the usev of the typewriter (notshown).
