In this way acold patch can be applied readily by merely turning the plunger 41 in the manner described, which provides a simple and convenient method of achieving this result, and since the pin 48 is made suificiently large and is of a high grade of steel, it will easily absorb the maximum pressure without resulting in breakage of any of the parts.
It will be understood, of course, that the entire lower part of the device, such as the pan, the steel disc 64, the loosely engaged spider frame, and the like can be used also with this latter form, if desired, so that any interchangeable combination can be made.

It will be seen further that I have provided means for accomplishing this result to accommodate difierent forms or sizes of patches, that I have devised a machine for effectively sealing a patch either with heat or without heat with the pressures being applied under suitable pivoting arrangements to insure a maximum efficient pressure against the patch without the danger of breaking any of the parts of the machine, and that I have provided all of these means in a structure of suflicient simplicity to insure a reasonable cost of manufacture.
Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts of my invention without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claims any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents, which may be reasonably included within their scope.
I claim as my invention:
1. A tube patching apparatus comprising a plunger, a lever for forcing the plunger downwardly, a further plunger adapted to be resiliently forced against a tire patch by the first mentioned plunger, and means for locking the two plungers together independently of said resilient means to function as a continuous solid unit.
2. A tube patching apparatus comprising a plunger, a lever for forcing the plunger downwardly, said plunger having a recessed cavity, a spring within the cavity, and said plunger having vertically positioned slots, lateral slots terminating the lower limits of the vertical slots, a lower plunger including a pin attached thereto received within the said recessed cavity so that said pin is received within said slots.
