2 Claims.
The invention relates to a smokers outfit and more especially to a combination floor lamp and smokers stand.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein cigarettes are stored within a compartment or magazine and these are available through single delivery thereof into a receiver for a consumer, the receiver having a heating element, so that the cigarettes in their single order delivered thereinto will be automatically lighted, thus avoiding inconvenience to a consumer in the use of a match for this purpose, and also a reading lamp is available and convenient to the user of the stand, the latter being of novel construction in its entirety,
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein its base constitutes a magazine or newspaper rack or holder and is adaptable for the storage of cigarettes available for use and also for holding conveniently paraphernalia serviceable to a smoker, as for example, an ash tray, a cigarette or cigar lighter, a receptacle for cigars or other smoking material, and a reading lamp convenient for use by the user of the stand, the device being unique and artistic in its make-up.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simple in construction, readily portable, thoroughly reliable and efiicient in its purposes, neat and attractive in appearance, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred embodiment of the inven- 40 tion, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view on a slightly enlarged scale.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical transverse sectional view taken at right angles to Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on the line 4-4 of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 5 is a sectional view on the line 55 of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 6 is a top plan view partly in section.
Figure 7 is a diagrammatic plan view of the circuit layout as installed within the device.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the device comprises a post or upright A constituting what might be termed a pedestal having in its upper portion, at the front thereof, a compartment or magazine H] for accommodating a receiver for a stack of cigarettes l I, these being in a single row within said compartment or magazine, for a purpose presently described. The compartment or magazine I [I is accessible, a hingled door l2 being provided for this purpose, it carrying a latch l3 of any conventional kind to maintain it in closed position.
At the base of the post or upright is a magazine or newspaper rack in the form of a frame M, the same being of any desirable artistic configuration to lend attractiveness to the outfit.
At the upper end of the post or upright A is arranged a flexible impact tubiform lamp arm l5 through which is trained the circuit wiring l6 for an electric lamp including the bulb socket l1, electric light bulb l8 and an adjustable shade Hi, this being of conventional kind. The circuit wiring I6 is connected with a suitable source of electrical supply, this connection being had in any desirable manner, and the source may be that of a house wiring installation. The circuit wiring l6 for the lamp has arranged therein an on and off trigger switch 20, it being related to a face plate 2| carried at the front of the post or upright A for convenient access to the user of the device, so that the lamp bulb l8 can be lighted or extinguished at the will of the user. The flexible arm l5 permits adjustment of the lamp to satisfy the demands of the user of the device.
Arranged at a proper elevation and at opposite sides of the base or upright A are the laterally extending horizontally disposed blocks 22, these having the respective pockets 23, 24, 25 and 26, they opening through the upper faces of said blocks 22 and being serviceable for the holding of smoking paraphernalia, as for example, cigarettes, smoking tobacco, pipe cleaners, pipes, ash tray, etc., they being conveniently accessible to the user of the device.
In the pocket 24, at the bottom thereof, is arranged an electric lighter unit 21, its circuit wiring being indicated at 28, and included therewith is a push button switch 29 which, on the closing thereof, enables a smoker to light a cigar or cigarette and also by the use of wax tapers a pipe may be lighted in a convenient manner.
This switch 29 is located at the front of the post or upright A convenient to the user, the circuit Wiring 28 being carried through a suitable way 30 as provided in the post or upright, this being also true with respect to the circuit wiring l6 for the lamp, its way being indicated at 3|.
Intersecting the lowermost end of the magazinc or compartment II] is a horizontally disposed guide passage 32 for an ejector ordelivery slide 33, it having a slot 34 therein for accommodating a single cigarette 35 of the stack for single delivery through a gravitating chute 36 provided in the post or upright A, the guide passage 32 being also provided in said post or upright, and this chute delivers the single cigarette into the pocket 24.
Arranged within the guide passage 32 at the inner extremity of the stroke of the slide 33 is a switch, the stationary contact of the same being indicated at 31, while the movable contact is indicated at 38 and carried by the slide 33, so that when the slide is actuated for the delivery of a cigarette-35 the switch having the contacts 31 and 38 will be closed so that when the cigarette falls within the pocket 24 it will be automatically lighted. This slide 33 is projected beyond the front of the post or upright A through the medium of a coiled spring 39, this being normalcy of the slide and in non-delivery position. The circuit wiring for the switch including the contacts 31 and 38 is indicated at 40 and this switch is automatic in its operation on manipulation of the slide 33 and is opened when the said slide is projected beyond the front of the post or upright A, as should be obvious.
It is needless to refer to the commodities of the device because the many available services thereof should be apparent.
What is claimed is:
1. A device of the character described, comprising a columnar stand having a vertically arranged magazine and a slot crosswise thereof, a delivery slide fitted within said slot and having an opening for receiving singly articles from said magazine and delivering them from the stand, a projection at one side of the stand below the delivery slide and having a pocket for receiving the article on delivery and a switch controlled lighter at the bottom of said pocket and operative by the slide when in delivering position.
2. A device of the character described, comprising a columnar stand having a vertically arranged magazine and a slot crosswise thereof, a delivery slide fitted within said slot and having an opening for receiving singly articles from said magazine and delivering them from the stand, a projection at one side of the stand below the delivery slide and having a pocket for receiving the article on delivery, a switch controlled lighter at the bottom of said pocket and operative by the slide when in delivering position and means active upon the slide to hold the same normally from delivering position.
