A piece of canvas is fastened along the vertical rear edges of the basket sides by means of cleats 5| and the tacks 52, see Fig. 3, and a reinforcing padding 53 is located thereagainst as shown. The canvas is also tacked to the outer lower sides of the offset portion of side members 30 and is extended upwardly at the inner side of the oflfset portion as clearly shown in Fig. 2. This upward extension is indicated by the reference numeral 55. The operation The operation is easily understood. The device is assembled and fastened onto the table as shown in Fig. 2 and the pins are located within the templet 42, the slots 43 serving to guide them to their exact positions. The protruding end of the alley pushes the canvas rearwardly and tautens the same as will be understood from an inspectionof the drawings. The templet is then raised to the dotted line position shown and in this position it serves to hold the spacer bar in place and of more importance it serves as a shield to prevent the: pins from flying out of the basket. The impact of the ball against the pins causes them to be thrown rearwardly and scattered and to usually strike against the padding l3 and then drop into the basket.

Next, the templet is swung downwardly as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and then the pins are manually inserted in the larger part of the several openings 43 and thence slid forwardly to their correct positions. The templet is now slid forwardly along the alley until the pivots 41 contact the rear of the slots 46 and then the templet may be turned upwardly to its dotted line position.

The invention is deflned in the appended claims and is to be considered comprehensive of all forms of structure coming within their scope.

I claim:

1. In a game table construction, the combination of, a basket having two elongated sides, brackets located atone end of each of these sides, a spacer barpivoted to one of the basket sides at its other end, a clip fastened to the end of the spacer bar and adapted to straddle the other side of the basket and shielding means pivoted between the basket sides and-adapted Thus a taut basket is formed for reto, rest upon the said spacer bar when located in one of its positions.

'2. A combination of elements as recited in claim 1, in which the pivoted shielding means is adapted to be tilted downwardly to a second position, said shielding means having a plurality of openings therein and serving as a templet when in its said second position.

4. A combination of elements as set forth in claim 3 in which the means for fastening the basket sides to the top edges of the sides of the table are made detachable.

5. A construction as recited in claim 3 in which said shielding means resting upon the detachable means.

6. A construction as recited in claim 3 in which shielding means is pivoted between the sides, said shielding means being capable of being swung upwardly to serve as a shielding means or to be swung downwardly to a position adjacent the top surface 01' the table.
