UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OLE O. KITTLESON, OF MILAN, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN BARBED FENCE-WIRE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 203,349, dated May 7, 1878 application filed March 29, 1878.
will enable others skilled in the art to Which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked. thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l is a section of barbed fence-wire, showing my invention. Fig. 2 is a detail view thereof. a
My invention consists in an improvement upon the barbed fence-wire secured to me by Letters Patent of the United States issued April 3, 1877, No. 189,047, such improvement consisting in twisting with the wire A (upon which the wire barb B, having points I) 7), is seated) the wire (1 The barb B is affixed to the w1re A, as stated in such former patent, by forming a bight in the barb around the wire A, and returning the point I) through said bight on the opposite side of the wire A,
so that the points band 11 project from the wire A from opposite sides.
The advantage of such additional wire 0 is, that it prevents the barb B from revolving upon the wire A, and also prevents such barb from being untwisted.
It will be observed in the patent above men tioned that while the bight held one end of the barb from untwisting, the other end of the barb had no support. In my present device the bight holds one end of the barb B, while the wire 0 secures the other end.
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The barb B, having projecting point I), and central bight, and the point I), secured by passin g through said bight and around one'of the fence-strands, while the part 7) passes between the fence-strands, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I afflx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
OLE O. KITTLESON. Witnesses:
