Description

T. KIRIK TIE RACK March 10, 1936.
Filed July 12, 1954 l NV ENTOR Y ed XL?! 113 Patented Mar. 10, 1936 My present invention relates to hangers or display racks for neckties or similar articles, suitable for personal or business use.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a device of the character described upon which a maximum number of neckties may be hung with their fiat surfaces facing outwardly, thus displaying the entire tie surface making it very easy to view them for selection and substantially eliminating the handling usually required for selection.
It is also an object of the present invention to provide tie racks of the character described which are of very simple yet ornamental and decorative construction, economical to manufacture, which are durable and which are readily fixed or hung in place.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating preferred embodiments of the present invention;
Fig. 1 is a view in perspective of a necktie rack of the present invention shown mounted on a wall and illustrating the manner in which neckties are displayed thereon; and
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary viewin perspective of a necktie rack with a modified form of tie hanger, shown mounted on a vertical floor Referring more specifically to the accompanying drawing the numeral Ill designates a substantially cylindrical disc having the perimeter, The disc ID is provided with an opening, 12, at its center by means of which it may be mounted, freely and rotatably, on the depending portion I3 of a horizontal arm Hi, the other end of which, I5, may also be depending and may be doubled up and removably inserted in a bracket, l6, that may be secured to a wall or The lower end of the depending portion, l2, may be provided with a washer or a screw or head, l8, upon which the disc may rest.
any other object, ll.
I0, may also be mounted by its opening, l2, upon a vertical standard, l9, the disc resting on the shoulders 20 formed by the narrowed portion 2| of the standard l9 which narrowed portion fits into the opening, I2, of the Set into the perimeter of the disc are a plurality of hangers, generally designated as 23, each hangar comprising a stem portion, 24, which is set substantially radially into the perimeter II, and which is bent at a short distance from the perimeter, ll, sideways, in a direction substantially tangential to the perimeter of the disc II], to form a horizontal portion, 25.

end 26, of the horizontal portion 25, being turned upwardly to form an abutment for the necktie hung thereon to prevent its falling off from the hanger.
In order to get the maximum number of hangers upon the disc the distance between the respective stem portions 24, of adjacent hangers, 23, may be slightly less than the length of the tangential portion, 25, of any hanger, as will readily appear from the drawing. Also, in order to provide sufficient clearance between adjacent hangers, the angle formed between the stem portion 24 and the horizontal portion 25 of each hanger may be slightly greater than a right angle.
The hanger, 23, may be modified, especially if it is desired to hang one or more neckties upon one hanger, in order to prevent the creeping of such ties upon the stem portion, 24, of the hanger as shown by the general numeral, 21, 20 in Fig. 2 of the drawing which shows a hanger comprising a stem portion 24, a downwardly bent portion 28, extending from the stem portion, a tangentially bent portion 29 and an upwardly turned portion 30. The depending por- 25 tion 28 acts as an abutment to prevent the neckties from creeping upon the stem portion 24.
When a necktie rack of the present invention is used it is obvious that all the ties hung there- 30 on are displayed with substantiallytheir entire surface showing, making them easily viewed and readily selectable. In order to view the entire necktie display on such rack, all that is necessary to do is to turn the disc. No handling of 35 the displayed neckties is necessary, in order to View their designs. By the particular arrangement of the hanger upon the disc, particularly by making the distance between the hanger slightly less than the tangential portion of any 40 of them, a maximum number of hangers may be carried on the rack of the present invention without detracting from or diminishing its displaying properties.
While the foregoing is descriptive of preferred 45 embodiments of the necktie rack of the present invention I do not Wish to be limited to the embodiment thus described as, obviously, many variations thereof may be made without the use of the inventive faculties and within the 5 spirit and scope of the present invention.
What I claim is:
In a necktie rack, a substantially circular member adapted to be revolubly mounted at its center and carryinga plurality of hangers along 55 its circumference, each of 'said hangers comprising a, thin elongated member extending radially from the said circular member for a short distance and then bent substantially vertically downwardly for short distance and then bent horizontally in a direction substantially tangential to the circumference of the circular member, the end of the said elongated member being turned upwardly, to form an abutment, the said tangential portions being all turned in the same direction.
